The first one. From Clue #10, The Rules say that you can’t take any that you brought in. So really, the most anyone can take is four different kinds, and with five cookies that can only be possibly be { 2, 1, 1, 1 }. In her case we know she took as many different kinds as possible (four) and that the pair from that set were Gingerbread cookies, so the other three cookies she took must be one each of three different kinds.
Okay, thanks. I’m still having trouble though but I was never great at math. I think the chocolate chip cookies one is still stumping me because it’s six of each cookie and you can only get five. But then there’s two left over but three people had milk which means one person had to have had three chocolate chip cookies and why do I smell burnt toast all of a sudden
Ooooo thank you for the heads up on Maisons! I guess I never attached a handler to the ‘Wrong Answer’ event. I’ll get that fixed up.
This is a tough one! There are a couple of smaller puzzles in this one that aren’t exactly on the grid, but you’ll need to solve to complete this. Did you figure out which kind of cookie each person brought and which five cookies were leftover at the end?
Here’s a good guide with some generic advice on how to solve these sorts of puzzles: https://logic.puzzlebaron.com/how-to-solve-a-logic-puzzle.php
And thanks again for playing!
Okay, this whole time I was under the assumption that the only cookies leftover were the ones that were mentioned so that could clear things up.
Also, here’s my guess for who brought which cookie (the ones not mentioned in the clues are in ROT13): Dick brought Peanut Butter. Chuck brought Chocolate Chip Purey oebhtug Guhzocevagf Gvz oebhtug Favpxreqbbqyrf Wnzrf oebhtug Tvatreoernq
