I am really looking forward to the updated game.

(+2)

I have beaten this game three times.

(+3)

Всего три?

So I do believe it goes without saying that the game you guys are making is pretty great and we all looked forward to update 1.9! However I do have to wonder, even though the game is currently free here on Itch, will the steam version of the game also be free as well? Or will it have a price on it when it eventually releases?  And if so, what kind of price range do you think you will be aiming for?

应该不可能免费,说了steam是有一些单独故事线的

(+1)

Hello there,

the game won't be free on steam, as it can't because of steam policy, but the full game will continue to be free here on itch. The steam release will have an exclusive character and its quest (not related to the plot or current characters) and some other goodies. The price range is not set in stone yet but it's thought out to be $10-$20 and regional pricing.

will steam release have achievements?

(1 edit)

Good to know! Can't wait to see what all you guys have in store for us in update 1.9!

(+1)(-7)

People are so impatient lmao. It only shows the work is that good. Though, I feel uneasy reading comments of people thinking they're entitled to regular updates, constant reassurance and communication.  We're all here out of curiosity and engagement towards a game that isn't even out yet.  Being part of the 'community' of this sort of project doesn't make us investors entitled to results. The money and support we're sending towards the dev are tokens of appreciation. How many funded projects have never seen the light of day ? We're pretty privileged to know for a fact the game will come out at all, let alone, this year.

All in all, we're gathered here out of passion. Let's respect and take care of each other <3

(+4)(-1)

It is more than fair to ask for an update, it is just having that expectation that you might not be provided with an answer or might not like what you want to hear.

To the cows come home the communication really needs some improvement:

Starmaker - We are more than aware that Kal adds stuff as he goes so percentages are more or less meaningless. Though I still have a hard time understanding why Kal cannot ping Dr.Muramasa from time to time with a "I am working on 3 large items and 5 small ones, but I might add more" and that gets shared with community.

Roundscape Eclipse - We have known since the 31st July Whisper and Aylari are getting teasers. Little baffled why that is taking so long to drop. If it is Kal squeezing time to fit it in, what happened to Pateron member who was supposed to be joining to help with this stuff?

Roundscape Adorevia - There has never been (at least from what I can see) any acknowledgment that 6.9 is not happening anymore. The Steam community just a appears lost in the wind with this one.

Arenus - We know things did not quite workout, but if is not getting published on Steam with a disclaimer... just yeet the page.

Super Hero Project - ...

We know Kal works differently to most developers, but there are still lots of room for improvement. Which I am glad it will be a thoughtout process and action for the next project. But a couple of curtain pulls would not hurt in the short term either.

Money talk is meaningless when it come to Starmaker (this is a Sandbox/UAT/Proxy for Roundscape) the vast majority of resources are pumped into Roundscape. You can talk about your disappointment, but that should not escalate into a rudeness/insults. Do not spread misinformation!

As the OP mentioned, try to be accommodating to others and put a little thought into what you are saying before clicking post.

That reminds me of something.

We'll have to be patient and look at the bright side: the longer it takes, the more content there will be. 😉

(+2)(-2)

(+1)(-1)

I know you can't say it—just wink if it's coming out in October, hahaha.

(+1)

I just want to say i love your game, thanks a lot :)))

(+1)

After all that talk about reaching 20k on Twitter, I expected an announcement or another sneak peek to keep the hype alive, but there's nothing new... still waiting without any updates

(-2)

Hello there,
first of all, the following on Twitter has nothing to do with the release or posts of Starmaker, that's just jokes similar to how a gen was shared as if it was a package for a gacha game. Keeping an update behind following count would be a really backhanded thing to do.
Also, I'm pretty sure you didn't check the main post since it does include new sneak peeks.

(+1)(-6)

People are really something, bringing the patreon money without themselves beings patreons is a bold move, also that´s a free will thing people do they are not doing it by force. I just hope devs are not petty, if it woulda be me, every time I see people being disrespectful I delay the game 1 more week.

Also we all know that as soon as the post 1.9 everyone will be happy, then complain about a bug that want to be fix in 5 seconds xD

(+1)

Oh I do not think we are prepared for how buggy the initial version of 1.9 is going to be 😅

(+1)

Yeah, that is one of the risk factors with making such a huge update: so many new systems will all be interacting in different ways. It makes bugs more likely and it makes locating the source of those bugs more difficult.

A "1.0-level update" also sacrifices one of the biggest benefits of early-access numbered updates: the ability to test ideas on a smaller scale before dedicating resources. If the developer, say, made controversial adjustments to the game's art and revamped every scene and every game location, it would grow increasingly difficult to undo those changes. I think Kal is proud of his work, and I don't think he wants to undo that work, but the sheer scale of the update makes it increasingly difficult to correct mistakes.

I have concerns.

Sure it will be right, will be all fixed by 1.9C 😅 and there are always funky workarounds to all the bugs we got in the past...

Mi cumpleaños es el 11 de octubre y mi deseo es que salga la versión 1.9 :3

seria un milagro

(1 edit) (+1)

P.S: New sneak peeks are added from time to time. The new previews are:

 1. Frank is now Frankie, this is a rework of how the Frank (insurance collector) quest/series of events work, it will now feature more than just paying or getting rid of him(her now).

Who is Frank mentioned above?

I don't recall this character when playing 1.8e.

.

(+1)

This is the man in a suit, holding a gun and wearing a top hat.

Will the UI colors be customizable or will they only be in red?

Damn this update is stacked brother! Looks so good.

(+1)

his is way beyond a patch at this point. You’re basically making a whole new game.

(2 edits) (+9)

Honestly, this is a very strange approach to engaging with an audience. Not releasing a single update in half a year, keeping development a secret, and not feeding the anticipation of the audience, the people who genuinely like the game. Wrapping it all in a veil of mystery, with the desire to deliver as much content as possible rather than releasing it in portions. It seems to me that with this attitude toward his own audience, there's a pretty good chance of losing it. Maybe I'm in no position to judge the development, since I'm not a developer and can't say for sure how much time it takes to create something large-scale and high-quality. But his communication raises a lot of questions. Well, we'll just have to wait, as that's the only thing left for us, since the developer hasn't provided any alternatives. In any case, thanks to him. He's done a great job, and the game is super high quality. I've never seen such a high level before. P. S. Also, he won't let me into the Discord, and it shows something like "Oops, an error occurred" or "Failed to connect to the server." Other channels let me in.

Literally from the Russian language:
"Ooops... Unable to accept the invitation"

(+1)(-10)

Sadly I won't blame him for abandoning the game. This community is pretty dreadful, complaining about communication while they themselves communicate like spoiled children.

ñiñiñi

(+2)

You realize its only that way because the original outline was update every two months, and now this has taken over a year, and it took him 6 months to even explain he's pretty much remaking the whole game. Dude sucks at giving progress reports. You give what you get and if you suck at communicating doen't expect your audience to pick up your slack

(+1)(-4)

Hello there,

While true that communications have not been great, please refrain from giving misinformation.
1. Is not over a year, last content update was in February.

2. There was an initial release date which was missed but some sneak peeks had already been given. Then the release was changed to this year for the amount of content that was going to be in it, which was advised since then.

(+1)(-4)

Hello there,

the game is not abandoned and to every community there is bad as there is good. Extremes of both sides are what are really bad.

(+7)(-1)

It is not a matter of good or bad. It is about the endless waiting. I am sure many people check the website every day, monitor the developer's social media, and are met with nothing but disappointment every single day. I certainly am.

Consider the decision made by the developer and the consequences of that decision. As information has already been shared that this person decided to remake the game from scratch, it sounds completely unreasonable and extremely strange, especially given that many people enjoyed the game just the way it was and simply wanted more content. On top of that, this person (I do not have the exact details) did not even consult their audience and went underground for half a year, feeding us update screenshots every couple of months! Screenshots, bro! For a Unity game, half a year with no updates is absolute madness.

I repeat, it is not my place to judge since I am not a developer, but I am speaking as a fan of the game, and it is very sad to watch all of this. Still, I am 100% sure I will buy it on Steam. If I live that long :)

(+3)(-6)

Is not an endless waiting, this is not the only game to have a date set for a year. The game has gone through reworks but is not made from the ground up, the looks changed, the game loop didn't. Again, communication could have been better but saying it went underground for half a year is not true, about the teasers, what's wrong with screenshots, is a unity game, not a renpy visual novel, this is a project done by a single person from a less than indie studio (around 5 people). Even big companies release screenshots and some videos from not in game visuals( which is not done here since there is no "cinematic presentations".

(+3)

Agreed, the discord is a cesspool and a constant circle jerk, you can't be critical at all you can only sing praises. I swore off supporting this team BECAUSE of the lack updates and transparency personally. I'm only popping in to see IF the update actually releases. I;m expecting this to be another Planet Lust shit show in the end

(-2)

We actively welcome constructive feedback and critical discussions when they're grounded in facts rather than hostility. Kal remains focused on delivering the upcoming update with the same quality as always and more. You are entitled to your own opinion but refrain for calling others a "cesspool" and misinform saying criticism is not welcome, that only praise is allowed.

Doc, let me into the Discord. I even promise not to talk to anyone there, just to keep an eye on the news :) Above in my post, there is a screenshot of the error I get when trying to join the server via your invite link.

The joining of the discord is not restricted by us, if you weren't banned it just means discord hasn't lifted the invitations restriction. Give me the username and I'll check.

m12an7hr0p3

You arent banned

How does this compare to Planet Lust in any way? ( PS Dandy Boy was a complete banger. They should have stuck with that instead of parking it to make Planet Lust.)

Arvus is openly working on two games. There is already a fuck ton of sex scenes, because you can play a version of Starmaker right now. Kal's main focus at the moment is Starmaker, and the rest of the team are tapping away at Roundscape. Planet Lust is a completely different genre, from a completely different studio.

Add night and Anna in a transparent night dress

Maybe I should create a Starmaker Spinoff... Fish, Chips, Fannies and Photos

lol absolutely

Latest pics explain the wait, this update looks like it'll be a whole new game.  Incredible work.
