Description
The "Secret Lake" is key logistical outpost run by peculiar frog people Anurians. In the quiet ambience of the thick forest, during the night a seemingly unremarkable lake becomes quite a crowded and rigorous scene, so many important goods to record, pack, load and transport to the other side swiftly and safely, while the brutal Corvid peoples scouts are asleep.
Merely transporting all the daily quota is quite the task, but that is not all – some of the time has to spent for dissasmbly and hiding of the docks, boats, tools, tables lamps and so many more! Thankfully the forest and the lake themselves provide plenty of places and resources for hiding of things, as for the Anurians themselves, they are able to shapeshift into docile looking teeny tiny frogs, though in reality this form allows them to communicate secretly via croaking without any passing Corvid watch throwing a suspicious glance. Moreso, the small form allows the Anurians to feed themselves, socialise and rest, none of which done during the laborious nights.

All three constraints are supposedly met. Intro of the the track starts off with the C Locrian mode, then at 0:30 the mode switches to C Phygrian mode. Both of these modes were mostly chosen on a whim, the Phrygrian mode was suggested by a friend of mine for it's "Mysteriousness". Therefore this block covers the 1st and 3rd challenges.
The 2nd challenge is achieved in the first 30 seconds. 15 seconds are accompanied by a low A note chimey/windy drone pad, then after the 15s mark switches to C note on the higher octave.

Starting in C Locrian and switching to C Phrygian was a smart way to create that mysterious shift, and the drone note change in the first 30 seconds works well as a structural device. My main note is that the track drifts out of ambient territory in places, so pulling back some of the foregrounded elements would help it sit more firmly in the genre. The lake theme comes through well, especially given how much thought you put into the setting.

Really solid work; I really like the compositional elements!

I am glad the mode shift and 15+15 sec drone worked out, first time tried thoughtfully implementing such elements (modes!? the hell is that!?), therefore didn't feel confident in their quality at all. Regarding the ambient part, I agree, and most of the other feedback also points that out, oh well, something to get out of this.

Thank you for the listen and the feedback, much appreciated!

Cool track, very melodic, I like that interesting mix with very modern percussions and synths combined with more organic asian-like sound palette, good story telling throughout the track with great moments, good job !

Developer

Thank You! I believe once gotten the feel of it, the mix of electronic and organic sounds can complement each other very nicely.

The plucks in the intro sound a bit hot and harsh, but the rest of the mix sounds good. Nice composition in the Eastern/Asian style.

Noted. Thank You for the feedback!

This is pretty awesome in terms of the story you put behind it and the music itself. Though it is not ambient per say, it did have a really good and feel and vibe to it. It felt very eastern and i think the two modes you had really helped bring that out, plus the instruments. Perhaps to make it more ambient sounding you could make things quieter or make is sound like they are more in the background in stead of the foreground. Solid work here. Really enjoyed listening to it.

Big thanks for the suggestions, I will definitely try to work on this issue asap while still fresh on the feedback. Also it is very nice to hear that You liked it.

This is fairly far from being ambient.  It's good otherwise, but really off from the theme.

Developer

Thank You  very much for the feedback. It indeed seems that I have went too up front with it...

Will have some homework to do :D

I really like the Composure, but it's not the best in terms of Ambient music, NGL... I really like how the Drums sound, along with the Erhu near the end, and just the overall melody.. Sounds like something from JADE Ethnic Orchestra, which is one of my favorite Kontakt Libraries to use! Overall, it doesn't sound too ambient, but it's still a really good song!

Developer

Thanks!
Agreed about the ambient music part. After listening to some other submissions, I thought that MAYBE I went a bit too up front. Also props for being the first commenter!

Well, you still made a song & submitted it, so that's what I think is what's really important! Also, you're welcome for the Feedback I gave you.
