How did you interpret the themes?
I made a cooking sim × roguelike × dungeon crawler.

Upstairs, you cook in a cozy first-person kitchen. Downstairs, you fight through a top-down dungeon that changes every run, hunting for ingredients. Each half needs the other: the dungeon stocks your kitchen, and the kitchen pays for the gear you need to survive the dungeon.

What are you entering?

hi i found this through the yt channel :D  its such as simple concept but its so well executed and polished, this def has potential to win the Ipad

Inspired by Netflix's "Delicious in Dungeon" everyone seemed to have the idea to make this kind of game for the jam, including me.  But only you can deliver the game. And, it is so polished too! The game itself has a lot of room to expand.

I like how the graphic looks. But, maybe some character model look different in than others. Maybe it is better to make them in one style. Also maybe the first 5 customer should just order 2-3 basic and easy recipe. Finding batwing in the dungeon is hard.

Control : i prefer if the character in dungeon can auto rotate to where they headed so i can play it using gamepad, but the current control scheme is fine too. They add difficulty. Also there seems the colliders of kitchen's tables and stuff are bigger than it should. when i press right, sometime the character bumped into invicible collider and goes forward or backward.

Dishes : all looks delicious and yucky at the same time. should add smoke fx maybe? would like to cook those skeleton troops' bone, lol.

Combat : would love to see more skills like diablo, poe

A very good game with good graphic. The features and scope are good for 2 week jam. One of the best submission!

I really wanted to play and get into the game, but are the controls broken for movement? I try on keyboard and mouse, and after a few seconds, the character controller kind of walks erratically, independent of the camera orientation.
The art looks really great, i really do want to play some more when that would be fixed or there is a work-around.

Developer

Thanks for reporting this! I’ve had multiple people playtest the game without running into this issue. Could you tell me what OS you’re using, what keyboard layout you have, and whether you’re using any controller or other input device? Also, does the erratic movement start immediately or only after playing for a while? If you send me a quick video of it happening it would help a lot to understand why and how to fix it: https://discord.gg/WxGVnkdyd (kindly share it here on my channel)

Windows 11, normal QWERTY keyboard. I have loaded the game up 3 times, and it happens more or less as soon as i start moving around the room, to a point where it is really hard to move across the room. I can try one more time to see if I can pinpoint what it is exactly.

The game was also listening to other input devices, and if anything like a controller, racing wheel, pedals, flight stick or a virtual gamepad  is connected, it can take over the movement whenever you let go of a key. Do you have anything like that plugged in? Until the fix is uploaded, unplugging or disabling those devices should solve it. lmk

How to play (Windows Only)

  1. Download the .zip file.
  2. Right-click it → Extract All… and choose a folder. Don't run the game from inside the zip; it won't start properly.
  3. Open the extracted folder and double-click Dungeons & Dishes.exe.

"Windows protected your PC"? This game isn't signed by Microsoft, so Windows may warn you the first time. Click More info → Run anyway.

Good to know

  • Nothing else needs installing: everything the game needs is in the folder.
  • Keep all the files together. The .exe needs the _Data folder and the other files next to it.
  • Requires Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) and a graphics card that supports DirectX 11.
  • Your progress saves automatically to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Disco Goose Games\Dungeons & Dishes. To uninstall, delete the game folder, and that save folder too if you want to reset your progress.
