How should I handle unsupported accusations under my recruitment post?

Hi, I would like some advice about how to handle a situation under one of my recruitment posts.

A user I briefly discussed potential work with later posted a public comment under my recruitment thread accusing me of potentially asking artists to create asset packs that I could resell online.

This person never worked for me, never delivered any assets to me, and there was no transaction between us. I never asked them to create asset packs for resale.

The user also explicitly stated in the accusation: “I CAN’T PROVE IT BUT I HAVE A HIGH SUSPICION…”

I have already reported the comment through the Report function.

My concern is that this accusation has already affected my recruitment.

I am considering deleting the original recruitment thread to prevent the accusation from continuing to affect potential collaborators, but I am concerned that deleting the thread may also remove context or evidence needed for the report.

What is the appropriate way to handle this situation? Should I leave the original thread online until moderators review the report, or is it safe to preserve screenshots/evidence and remove the thread?

I’d keep screenshots and any relevant messages as evidence, then wait for the moderators to review the report before deleting the thread. If the accusation is unsupported, a short calm clarification is usually better than arguing publicly.
