Enjoyed playing this! I had to play the browser version since I'm on mac and I experienced a few bugs, but it was overall fun. I did miss the ability to speed through dialogue on my second playthrough. I liked the candy sorting mechanic!

Developer

I’ll keep in mind adding a way to speed up the dialogue. 📝

Thanks so much for playing, I’m really glad you enjoyed it!

At first I was a little confused on what to do but eventually I figured it out. Loved how you handled exploration and moving around. The artwork for everything was quite striking and I enjoyed the mix of it all. I also laughed at the note in the options menu. Great sfx and music work too! Will definitely recommend this to others!

This was a really fun game! I really enjoyed the art style, it's very unique and creative with some fantastic and varied drawings. The dialogue is enjoyable to read, and the music and sfx are fantastic and really set the tone. I especially loved the candy wrapper sound effects, they gave me the heebiejeebies. I like how the game dropped enough hints about what you needed to do to uncover the mystery, but didn't hold your hand. The timer on the trick-or-treaters was fun and added tension while exploring the area for clues. The options menu being all sideways was funny.

My only issues:
- Would love a save function
- The timer and XXX in the UI covered the book/letters that I discovered, so I couldn't quite read the text in the upper right corner. I was able to fill the gaps in well enough to get what was being said, though.
- I feel like the candy inspection could do with being a bit more deceptive/difficult. I felt like I could almost entirely judge them on smell alone, with an additional squeeze test for squishyness just to be sure. It made visually inspecting them feel pointless. I would've loved to find one that smelled normal and wasn't soft, but when you open the magnifying glass - it's gross. If there are any like that in the game, I didn't happen to find any.

Fantastic work :)

Hi! Thank you so much for the kind words! We’re really glad you enjoyed it!

And yes, I really wanted to avoid having the game hold your hand too much. I preferred adding some clues so you wouldn’t be completely left on your own.

As for the saves, like I mentioned in another comment, I didn’t add a save system because it’s such a short experience. However, I should definitely add a button to skip the tutorial, or at least the whole introduction.

And as for the rest: there are some more "evil deceiving candies"! It’s actually pretty strange that you didn’t run into any of them. Looks like I’ll have to check my array and look through that part of the code too!

Thanks so much for letting us know!

You did a fantastic job, that's great game design.

Oh yes a skip button would probably be better!

Aw man, I must've just gotten lucky (unlucky?) haha! Maybe I'll have to play through again to see if I get one :)

Really creative! This game has a lot of well-developed mechanics that keep you completely engaged throughout the playthrough. The story is well-written and the art is quite unique and lovely. I think creativity is the best trait a developer can have to make a good game, and this is a great example. PS: I had problems at first entering the game because it just crashed for no reason. I don't know if it's a general problem, but I just wanted to let you know for the future :)

Hi! Thank you so much for the kind words!

If I may ask, did you get any error message when it crashed? That would help us figure out what to check.

Other than that, thanks again for the feedback! We really appreciate it!

Helloo! I just keep trying until I open the game in developer mode and then it opened. But I don’t know if that will work for everybody

Developer(+1)

I think it might be a Godot issue in general (?)

I’ll look into whether it could be related to the export or something similar. Thanks for letting us know!

Loved the mixed-media feel of the game visuals, the interactive aspects of the game were a lot of fun as well. Though I do wish there was an option to save the progress so you wouldn't have to go through the whole tutorial again for the ending/lore hunting...

Developer(+2)

Since it’s a very short experience, I didn’t really think about adding a save system. I also didn’t think about implementing a way for the game to recognize that you’ve already completed the tutorial, or simply adding a skip button.

Over the next few days, along with some other things I need to fix, I’ll definitely implement this as well!

Thanks so much for the feedback, and we’re really glad you enjoyed it!
