[Buyer] Looking to acquire indie games, abandoned projects, or game IP

Hi,

I’m looking to connect with indie developers who may be interested in selling or transferring a game project they no longer plan to continue.

I’m open to a wide range of projects, including:

  • Finished or nearly finished indie games
  • Abandoned or shelved projects
  • Unreleased games and prototypes
  • Game jam projects that grew beyond the original jam
  • Older projects that are no longer being maintained
  • Visual novels, RPGs, strategy games, creature-collecting games, puzzle games, etc.
  • Unity, Godot, GameMaker, Ren’Py, RPG Maker, web/mobile games, and other engines

I’m primarily interested in projects where the developer owns the underlying rights and can potentially transfer the source/project files and associated IP.

The project does not need to be commercially successful or currently generating revenue. I’m also interested in games that were discontinued because of lack of time, funding, motivation, or because the developer simply moved on to something else.

Depending on the project, I may be interested in acquiring:

  • Source code / complete project files
  • Original artwork and assets
  • Game IP, characters, world, story, and branding
  • Existing builds
  • Store pages/accounts where transferable
  • Documentation and development notes

Smaller and inexpensive projects are especially welcome. I’m not exclusively looking for large or established commercial games.

If you have something you might be willing to sell, feel free to reply here or send me a private message with:

  • A short description of the game
  • Engine/platform
  • Current development status
  • Screenshots, video, demo, or store page if available
  • What would be included in a sale
  • Whether the assets/code are original or use third-party materials
  • Your approximate asking price, if you already have one

Even if you’re only considering selling and haven’t decided yet, I’m happy to talk.

Thanks!

Hi, I have a small original browser puzzle prototype, Circuit Trails: twelve grid puzzles, touch/mouse/keyboard controls, undo/hints and local completion tracking. It runs as a static HTML/JavaScript project, with no third-party assets or dependencies. Demo: https://circuit-trails-jaye-2026.netlify.app/ My asking price for the source project is US$35, subject to agreeing the files, rights and payment terms. It is an unreleased prototype; no sales or revenue are claimed. If this fits your acquisition interest, I can discuss the details here.

Hi, thanks for reaching out. I took a look at the Circuit Trails demo and it looks good. The project sounds like it could fit what I’m looking for, especially since it’s original, self-contained, and doesn’t rely on third-party assets or dependencies.

I’d be interested in discussing the source project, included files, rights transfer, and payment terms in a little more detail.

You can reach me here:

Email: fjreyesq@gmail.com Discord: francisco059150

Feel free to contact me through whichever is easier.

Thanks for taking a look. The source package contains index.html, engine.mjs, game.mjs, README.md, a local Node preview server, and the engine test script.

The US$35 asking price remains subject to agreeing the included files, rights scope and payment terms. What rights scope do you need, and what payment method would you propose? Happy to continue here.

Thanks for the additional details. For the rights scope, I’d be looking for an exclusive transfer of the project and the rights you own in it, including the source files and the right to modify, expand, rebrand, publish, distribute, and use the project commercially.

Since you mentioned there are no third-party assets or dependencies, I’d also want the transfer to confirm that the included project materials are either your own work or otherwise transferable for commercial use.

For payment, PayPal Goods & Services would be my preferred option if that works for you. Given the small purchase amount, I think that would be the simplest way to handle it.

If that rights scope and payment method work for you, I’d be happy to move forward and keep the terms simple and in writing before payment.

Proposed terms for review only, subject to both sides’ final written approval:

US$35 through PayPal Goods & Services, with the recipient confirmed privately before payment. The package is the frozen Circuit Trails prototype: index.html, engine.mjs, game.mjs, README.md, server.mjs and test-engine.mjs. It contains no bundled third-party art, fonts, libraries or runtime distributions.

The transfer would cover whatever transferable project rights the seller holds, allowing you to modify, expand, rebrand, publish, distribute and use it commercially. Subject to seller approval, the seller would stop selling, licensing or distributing this specific project/source, remove the seller-controlled public demo after payment, and retain only private archival/evidence copies.

The three runtime files have already been exposed in the public demo; downloaded copies cannot be recalled. Copyrightability, exclusive copyright in every element, trademark rights and sole possession of all existing copies are not guaranteed. Actual provenance records are preserved, and no personal-authorship warranty is being made.

No future feature development or support retainer is included. Final written agreement and seller approval would precede payment; delivery would follow verification of actual payment. If these limits fit your intended acquisition, we can finalize the written terms. No sale or rights transfer is agreed by this draft.

Thanks, that all sounds reasonable to me. I understand the limitations you mentioned around previously downloaded copies and the scope of the rights being transferred.

The proposed terms fit what I’m looking for, so I’m comfortable moving forward with the final written agreement and payment details.

Thanks. I’ve sent the written Circuit Trails terms and payment details in our existing email thread at the address you provided. Please reply there to accept the written terms. The source ZIP will follow verified payment.

WOULD YOU BE INTERESTED IN SOMETHING LIKE THIS?

I'm building THE LAWS — a mobile narrative life-sim where you live one man's life from birth to death. Every choice writes to an invisible ledger. That ledger shapes who you meet (Attraction), what you carry (Karma), and how you move (Gravity). The game never tells you the rules. You discover them by living. Nine endings. Generational New Game+.

The full design doc is done. A playable HTML prototype exists. The systems work. What's missing is a collaborator to help ship it to the Play Store and beyond.

What I bring:

  • Complete game design document (three interlocking systems, fully specced)
  • Playable prototype with all core mechanics working
  • Narrative architecture (16 authored beats, 9 endings, emergent encounter system)
  • Writing (journal, encounters, NPC voice)
  • Vision and direction

What I'm looking for: A developer who can take the prototype and turn it into a real app — React Native / Expo preferred, but open to Unity or Godot if you have a strong reason.

Rev-share structure:

  • Open to negotiation, but thinking 40/60 to 50/50 depending on what you bring
  • Written agreement, clear milestones, no ambiguity
  • If it makes money, we both make money. If it doesn't, we both learned something real.

Why this project: This isn't a clone. There's no morality meter. No tutorials. No HUD. No ads. No microtransactions. It's a game that respects the player's intelligence and time — and the systems are genuinely novel. The kind of thing that gets written about.

Reply to this if you're interested. I'll send the full design doc, the prototype, and we can talk.

Hi, thanks for sharing this. The idea is definitely intriguing, and I’d be interested in learning more about THE LAWS.

The hidden ledger concept, the three interlocking systems, and the generational New Game+ all sound especially interesting. Did you already have a timeframe in mind for development and for getting the first version onto the Play Store?

Also, if you’d prefer to move the conversation somewhere a little easier, I’m happy to continue over email or Discord.

Hi, Discord or email is fine. I've sent a request and email to you. Look forward to further Communications.

hello! if you are interested in original work, meybe you are interested in being a part of it or being in control of it?  i can develop small projects really fast, i do have 2 that i can showcase (they are incomplate) ((also i had more but i had to reset my pc and lost all, these 2 are the recent ones))  anyway, i can do programming in godot, music of any kind, voice acting and art to some extent (art being my weakest) ((i do NOT use ai in any of my work))  i do have a LOT of original ideas for games that i couldnt start becouse im also in collage and havent been able to sit to work for a while, so for a small price i could develop games for you which you would have all the rights to,  it would help me with collage and help me get back to work,, i can also learn and use other game engines if need be,  i need about 60$ per week here but any amount would help me regardless, if you think im a good deal with a large price please say so, i'd like to work even if its for a lower price, and im sure quality and if not the speed of my work can make up the difference.

I’m definitely interested in taking a look.

The arrangement you described could actually fit what I’m looking for, especially if you’re comfortable developing original projects where I would ultimately own the finished game, source code, and associated rights.

I’d like to start by seeing the two projects you currently have, even if they’re incomplete. If possible, send me some gameplay footage, screenshots, playable builds, or whatever you have available, along with a little information about how long you spent developing each one..

Rather than deciding on a price immediately, I’d like to get a better idea of your work and what you can realistically produce first. If it looks like a good fit, I’d be open to discussing either individual project prices or an ongoing arrangement where I fund development of smaller games and receive the agreed ownership/rights.

Feel free to send over the two projects whenever you’re ready.

thank you! i send a discord friend request, i can send the small videos i just took over there

Sent you an email! Have a good one!

I have one existing, shelved browser project that may fit your small-project request: NebulaKit Lightkeeper, a six-chart mirror-and-beam puzzle prototype.

Complete playable demo: https://nebulakit.itch.io/lightkeeper

Turn mirrors so one continuous beam passes through every star and reaches the moon. The six charts progress from one reflection to crossings and a return path; hints, undo, reset, replay and browser-local saves are implemented. It is a self-contained HTML/CSS/JavaScript project, with inline SVG/CSS visuals, system fonts and no third-party engine or art/audio pack bundled. No live AI or game server is used. The optional feedback link opens itch.io.

Code, puzzle drafts, interface text and verification scripts were AI-assisted, as disclosed in the game. It is already publicly available free; I am not claiming sales or an established player audience. Further game production is parked.

I have prepared the exact source file, play/development instructions and the two existing verification scripts as a candidate package. Indicative asking price: US$25 for this current project, subject to agreeing the files, rights scope and payment terms. No new development, accounts, customer data, other products or the NebulaKit brand would be included.

Your exclusive-rights requirement needs clarification before any agreement: existing publication/permissions must be respected, and I am not promising exclusive copyright in AI-generated portions or exclusive availability of existing copies. If the AI-assisted provenance and existing public release fit your plans, the complete demo is available for your assessment and we can discuss an appropriate scope. No rights or payment terms have been agreed.

Omri Amdursky / NebulaKit

Hi Omri,

Thanks for reaching out and for being clear about the current state of Lightkeeper, the AI-assisted portions, and the existing public release. I played through the concept and I’m interested in the project at the $25 asking price.

My intention would be to use the current prototype as a starting point for further development — potentially expanding the number of puzzles, adding additional light/mirror mechanics, reworking the presentation and progression, and eventually exploring a commercial mobile or desktop release under a different name.

I understand that the NebulaKit brand, accounts, customer data, and your other projects would not be included, and I’m also fine with the existing itch.io version having already been publicly released.

For the rights, I wouldn’t expect you to assign rights that you don’t actually own in any AI-generated material. What I would want is an assignment of all rights that you personally own in the Lightkeeper project and permission to freely modify, rebrand, expand, create derivative versions from, publish, distribute, and commercially monetize the transferred project/source files.

Assuming that scope works for you, I’d be happy to move forward at $25. Could you also confirm exactly what files would be included in the handoff and what payment method you prefer?

Thanks, Francisco

Hi freyes44,

I have a new small browser cargo-puzzle prototype, Harbor Shift, available as a source-project acquisition candidate. The frozen HTML/CSS/JavaScript project has twelve short fixed levels, keyboard and on-screen controls, undo, reset, hints, and browser-local completion tracking. You can play the three-level demo here: https://ithyme7.itch.io/harbor-shift

The code, level layouts, text and SVG/CSS visuals were AI-assisted, as disclosed on the page. No third-party engine, art/audio pack, font file or library is bundled. This is a newly built prototype, with no claimed sales, revenue or player audience.

My indicative asking price for the complete source package is US$35, subject to agreeing the included files, rights actually held, and payment/delivery terms in writing. The demo runtime and its three levels are public, so existing copies cannot be recalled. I cannot promise exclusive copyright in AI-assisted elements or personal human authorship.

If that provenance and scope fit what you're currently buying, would you be interested in reviewing the package? No future feature work, other products, accounts or customer data are included.

Hi freyes44,

I saw your post about acquiring indie game projects and thought GECE VARDİYASI (Night Shift) might be a good fit.

GECE VARDİYASI is a 1–4 player co-op survival horror game developed in Unreal Engine 5. It takes place at an isolated roadside gas station, where players work the night shift, serve customers, manage the station, and survive the threats that appear throughout the night.

The project is currently in development, and there is already a playable Windows build available.

You can find the project here: https://okan12.itch.io/night-shft

Project details:

  • Unreal Engine 5
  • PC / Windows
  • 1–4 player co-op
  • Survival horror / simulation
  • Currently in development
  • Playable build available

I'm open to discussing a transfer of the project, including the source files, existing systems, applicable assets, and IP rights. The project does use some third-party assets, so I can provide details about their licensing and what can be transferred.

If you're interested, I can also send gameplay footage, more detailed project information, and a breakdown of what would be included in the sale.

Thanks!

Hey, I came across your post about acquiring abandoned, unfinished, or unreleased indie games.

I like that you're open to smaller projects as well, since there are quite a few developers who have old prototypes or projects they've moved on from but may still own the rights to them.

I'm currently connecting with indie developers and project creators, so I wanted to reach out and see if you're still actively looking for projects to acquire. If I come across a developer with a suitable project, I'd be happy to connect you both.

Are there any particular genres, engines, or types of projects you're prioritizing right now?
