Cute game, amazing puzle, great mechanic with the rule and the sections.
The art is basic but clear and cool. Also the sound are great.
Amazing game, love to see more puzzles like that, great game.
Iām glad you liked it thank you for playing!!
OKAY, ONE INCH WILLIE IS SUCH A CUTE LITTLE JOURNEY! šš š
I really like how the theme is built directly into the character and gameplay Willie is literally taking the long way home because he can change his length and is already an inchworm moving at a slow pace. The token-based puzzle mechanics are really clever too, and I liked how the simple icons make the actions easy to understand once the idea clicks. The homemade art, music, and sound give it a nice personal jam-project feel.
The biggest thing Iād love to see is more levels and mechanics. The core idea feels like it has a lot of room to grow with new tokens, more ways to change Willieās length, and increasingly tricky puzzles. A small tutorial or clearer explanation of the token combinations would also help new players get into the puzzle system faster. Visually, even a simple background or environmental details could add a lot of personality.
SUCH A CLEVER LITTLE PUZZLE GAME WITH A REALLY UNIQUE THEME INTERPRETATION! šš§©š ⨠40 HOURS WELL SPENT, AND IāD LOVE TO SEE WHERE YOU TAKE WILLIE NEXT! GOOD LUCK WITH THE JAM! š®š„
Hey thank you so much I love the feedback!! Iām glad you enjoyed the game, and Iām sorry I couldnāt give you any more. Halfway into the development I realized I shouldāve made more of a ālevel editorā to make as many levels as I wanted, but since I didnāt I just stuck to these two levels so I could try to polish my existing work instead.
I also planned on adding more tokens with different effects, but I just didnāt have enough time to make it happen and kept what I had, which I am definitely still proud of :)
Anyway, Iām glad you took the time to play and enjoy my game and thank you so much for the feedback!!!
Nice puzzle game !
love the concept and every icon is easily understantable .
Good Job !
Thanks so much!!
Aaaaw! I just got interested and the game is over?
I liked the concept! The icons were readable, the actions easy to understand, but then the game is over after only two levels? I wanted more! With more actions and more tokens!
Graphically the game needs more work. Just adding some background would do a lot (like a table, maybe a blurry room further away).
Over all- usually I don't mind short games in game jams, but this one just makes me hungry for more. Keep it up!
Sorry about that! I wanted to make more levels but didnāt have the time, but Iām very happy you liked what it currently offers! And I agree, a simple background wouldāve definitely been a good upgrade. Iāll keep your feedback in mind, thank you for playing!! :)
Cute Puzzle Game!
Very creative gameplay concept! I was pretty into figuring out how to combo the tokens together, and found the whole gameplay loop to pretty fun!
Visuals are pretty lacking. It does have a bit of charm, but I do think it is pretty lacking, simply due to the lack of many visual elements.
Audio is barebones, but for the game I think it's fine, I don't think much needs to be changed here.
Theme is pretty great! I love to see puzzle game interpretations of the theme, and I think this one was done great!
Overall, short game that is still pretty enjoyable!
Thank you for the feedback it helps a lot :)
Im glad the game felt fun and creative to you, and im sorry that the visuals and audio didnāt have anything special to offer. Since im still fairly new in those skills and also having school the whole week, it made it pretty hard for me to go the extra mile with it.
But anyway Iām so glad you liked the theme, and I thank you for playing and for leaving a review!!
This was really cool.
Iāve never played a puzzle/strategy game like this before. Really cool concept and really engaging.
The sound is well done. Music matches and sound effects give good feedback.
Visually I like the art style, but I think it could be polished a little more.
I got him home though!
Great entry. Had fun with this one. I could see it doing well in the mobile market if you expanded it out more.
Thank you for the feedback man itās really appreciated!! Iām glad everything in the game felt in place, and for the art style, I wanted to add more but I just didnāt have enough time to polish it out. Thank you for playing :)
This was a nice little turn based puzzle game! The idea and theme were quite interesting and this can be expanded on in terms of levels and mechanics further post the jam! I liked the core mechanics of the game and the short levels. Maybe you could make it such that after dying the player is reset to the same level instead of restarting from the first one. Also Does the length of the caterpillar remain the same after moving to the next level? I feel that i had a longer one and then it resets to the base size. Good job on this :)
Yes I did program the caterpillar size to reset after the first level so that the second level works properly, and I was thinking about adding a checkpoint after the first level but ultimately decided not to :(
Thank you so much for playing and for the positivity!!
Really cute Willie. I enjoyed growing and eating very much :). It took some time to understand how tokens work but with a soothing music in the background it was an enjoyable experience
Iām glad you liked it! Thank you for playing :)
Interesting concept, this is a clever game! It is very obscure though and it took me a couple runs to understand what was happening even though I was winning. It could use a clearer tutorial and maybe some couple of harder levels. Smart little game!
Yeah I agree I probably shouldāve given more of a tutorial, but the time crunch I had made me cut a few corners :( Thank you for playing though!!
Cool. I would definitely suggest explaining the mechanic in the game page's description and adding optional instructions to the game after the jam if you want to update it. Otherwise, you set up the visuals nicely and the game was not impossible to figure out. A unique take on a Long Way Home.
Yeah I totally get what you mean, the reason I didnāt add much instructions was because I kinda wanted the player to figure out how it works which could help the theme in terms of being the āLong Wayā, but maybe i couldāve executed it a bit differently. Anyway, I will probably update the page to give more of a tutorial, but thank you for playing and for the feedback!!
Interesting mechanic, a bit complex for me but overall is a good game. Good work!
Thank you for playing :)
