Wooow mashing up pool, dice, and merge mechanics is such a brilliant idea - you really did an awesome job with the game design, it was so hard to put down especially with that chill lofi playing😄

I love merge games! ❤️
Great sound design and a really cool mechanic with the dice.
I was thinking about what could be improved. Please don't take this as criticism, I am just sharing my thoughts:
1. Right now the CHIPS calculation is linear. I think it would feel way better if it used an Easing curve with the sound pitch going up.
2. The most pairs I managed to get was 4, with dice still left on the board. I think it would be awesome if players had a chance to fully clear the board.
3. I noticed that merging certain dice gives extra coins, but the reward happens almost unnoticed, and the coin counter only updates after the round ends. A bit more visual feedback would really motivate players to target those specific dice.
Also, I caught a couple of minor bugs:
1. When buying the Sticker upgrade, it asked me to make a choice, but the cursor passes right through the UI elements. If there is an upgrade underneath, the choice does not register.
2. In the upgrade menu, the frame showing the current and next dice peeks through.
Still, I really loved the overall concept! Add more content, polish it up, and you have got a full Steam game on your hands. 🔥
Thank you, Estel, for the thoughtful feedback!! And yes, Steam is definitely in the cards (dies?) now lolol
The bugs have already been cleaned up in more recent builds, and I noted all the things you suggested.
For clearing the board, I’ll have to think about how to adjust the pacing so players have more time to set up merges. I can already imagine carefully building up a board over several throws, then landing that final die that triggers a huge chain and clears everything. That would feel so satisfying.
I’ve also been thinking about some sort of puzzle mode where you’re given a predefined board and only one or a few dice, and the goal is to figure out the right throws to clear the table. That could potentially become an entirely different game though lmao, but there’s definitely a lot to explore there.
Thank you again for playing and for taking the time to write all of this!!
When I saw this game, I wondered if it was made with Defold; it looks really good. It reminded me of Balatro, but with its own unique mechanics.
That was really fun and unique! The sound and graphics were very satisfying and smooth.

Very satisfying mechanic to see the dice jump around the table and morph into eachother :)
Did you make it with an update just 12 seconds before the deadline? That's cutting it close! You launch a die and set off chain reactions by connecting dice of the same color to build combos. I understood how to play right away, and I think it fits this jam's theme well. There are a few display glitches, but I couldn't fix all the bugs in my own game either, so I totally get it.
Had some issues deploying to Wavedash but it has been deployed successfully: https://wavedash.com/games/dio
