I really liked how on point the UI was it truly felt like i was doom scrolling on YT lol. Great message!

Love, love Desktop Horror - so this one was right up my alley! Loved how it draws you in instantly, and really does mimic clicking from one video to the next. I wish I didn't know half the references made in the game.

I'm gonna be honest, I was not ready for what this game was about to lay onto me psychologically! Truly amazing entry, with the overall message, and the mechanics - had me do a spit take when I saw you re-made Windows.

How did you do the end bit with all the user comments, I'm so curious, it's so COOL!

I wasn't expecting the life lesson at the end but appreciated it! I like how different this one feels, and it is really well done! i love the sound effects, well done!

As someone who's had her Youtube recommended disabled for the past 5 years I am going to assume this is an accurate representation of the Youtube experience.

Loved the atmosphere of this one, the animations, desktop recreation and sounds were perfect.

[copying mikdog here]

woah really cool

loved the emulated desktop, felt like all the buttons actually worked which immersed me.

great art, sfx were on point, as well as being on theme!

loved the message at the end, it really is a real commentary on how the content algorithms work, and is 100% a message worth spreading through art like this.

[never know whether to rate or post a comment, so I’m duplicating my msg here!] Great! All those vid anims seem like a lot of work, and a working video player? Wild. I support the message too - 'attention' has become a valuable asset we give away too freely. AND I support telling our parents that we love them ❤️

Great take on the theme and the scrubbing through the vid concept is a really strong mechanic, I could play more of it. Felt like a CSI investigator pausing and "enhancing" the vid. As someone who loves diegetic UI you guys nailed the feel. Well done!

Developer

Aww Dee thanks for playing! And yess I love the CSI comparison, actually might be cool to develop our mechanic into something more detailed like the zoom and enhance :o thanks for the inspo!

What a cool premise! Always love a little creepy pasta style game. Don't forget kids,  Feed the Algorithm!

I absolutely do recommend and you cannot stop me. As the ending text rolled I got strong Bo Burnham vibes, and then the Jacksfilms song jumpscared me into thinking my mind was being read. Great premise, greater execution, and even greaterer recommendation!

Developer

Being compared to Bo Burnham is one of the best compliments I've ever received 😭 And I'm so glad you recognised Jack! I sense a fellow chronically online person hahah

Very surreal, well done!

I enjoyed it, I do think it was a bit artificially paced, but I suppose there is a bit of narrative it in itself being fed new content.

Developer

Thanks! Yeah we were hoping to get a more realistic algorithm out but it just required way too many videos for me to animate to achieve that xD

Quite unsettling!

I initially thought that the things I chose to watch would affect what's shown next, but I couldn't pick up on a pattern, and things quickly spiralled from there, ha

You can like and dislike (or both at the same time) and subscribe, but I'm not sure whether that did anything (or at least, I couldn't figure out what affect it has, if any).

The scrubbing was kind of interesting, though I wonder if it should be impossible to see the correct frame via normal playing of the video; I could see whereabouts it was in each video, and thus it was less about looking for it and more about just picking the right frame from the handful I knew contained it. Though I suppose looking for it during play requires you to pay attention anyway.

The unravelling towards the end was unsettling and the sound definitely reinforced that feeling!

Developer

Thanks, I'm glad it was unsettling! The buttons and such weren't hooked up to anything sadly, but creating a more fleshed out artificial platform with more videos and channels was the goal - just didnt have time xD Would also require a lot more videos to make those kinds of features meaningful. But I'm glad the game communicated itself well to you regardless!

Well done guys! This is such a good idea with the theme of the Jam, you did so much drawing and animation!! Looks great, sounds great and was cool to play through, would love to see this developed further!

Developer

Thanks Kayla! ^^ Means a lot coming from you, and your insanely gorgeous game!!

This game straight up gave me goosebumps. The sound effects are so well done and the timing just right, that it just gives you chills from video to video. Animations are amazing and the message is deep, especially with content being the way it is. I RECOMMEND this game! Happy Game Deving!

hahah good pun! I really appreciate your kind words, and that the message landed!

Happy Game Deving to you too!
