Since the release of the dot-command update, things seem have become incredibly confused with regard to installation.

From what your documentation says, it appears as though you  should now be supplying CalmCommander in two separate versions: its original stand-alone form and the new dot-command alternative. Certainly your most recent development notes make it quite clear that the two versions now co-exist.

However, the downloadable zip archive now appears to contain only the new dot-command version. The files that your installation notes refer to (cc.bas, cc.bin etc.) are no longer present.  As for the files that ARE provided in the archive, the only installation notes relating to those are tucked away in the dev-notes about the new dot command, so are hard to find. The installation notes provided in the same place as the download now refer to files that aren't present! I assume this is an oversight…?

I've personally kept my old copy of version 1.6 for the time being, but it'd be nice to be able to update it to match version 1.7 of the dot-command edition.

In addition to that, it appears as though there are now two separate copies of the plug-ins folder, with everything duplicated in two places – i.e. the contents of C:/CalmCommander/plugin and C:/sys/cc/ should be identical.

That's what your installation notes (themselves provided in two separate places!) clearly say, but it seems very inefficient to maintain two separate folders of 18+ plug-in files.  (My old /plugin folder also contains a 'copy' file that isn't in the new /sys/cc folder.) Couldn't the stand-alone version of the tool be updated so as to use the same C:/sys/cc/ folder as the dot-command version, rather than having a separate /plugin folder?`

Or am I misunderstanding something?

Thanks!

Hi, from version 1.7 I will only maintain the Dot version. I will fix the documentation today, I forgot about it. Sorry.

Maintaining two separate versions would be very demanding, especially if they were functionally identical. From a practical point of view, instead of uploading the Basic program CC.BAS, you just need to enter the command .cc.

Hi, Many thanks. I completely agree that just having the dot-command version in future makes far better sense. It's just that your documentation explicitly said that both existed in parallel, so it seem worth making these points.

Anyway, thanks for the clarification – and for all the remarkable work you've been doing recently, with so many great things!
