Hey, I also participated in that publisher's Game Jam. If like us you are not entirely satisfied on how confusing things went about that jam I invite you to submit your game to the Salvage the Jam so we can have a safe place where we can all showcase, play, and feedback our games!

Go check it out :)

Thanks for submitting Suck and Shoot! This was one of the better games in the jam, and we had a lot of fun with it.

You delivered on the salvage theme really well. The idea is original, the game has a clear identity, and it knows exactly what it wants to be. From start to finish it felt like a solid, complete experience, which is no small feat in a jam.

The biggest area for improvement is the core gameplay loop. It got repetitive fairly quickly, and the salvage side of the loop often didn't feel worth it. Shooting enemies was a faster and easier way to earn money, and there weren't enough enemies around to make that money feel hard to come by. That made the vacuum mechanic feel optional rather than central to the game.

One idea worth exploring would be having most of your money come from enemies dropping scrap when they die, which you then suck up to collect. That would tie the shooting and salvaging together into one loop instead of two competing ones. We'd want to see it tested to know for sure, but it could make both halves of the game feel more connected and rewarding.

The sound design was the other weak spot. Some of the sounds became pretty irritating over time, especially during longer sessions. Softening or varying the effects, or giving players a volume option for them, would go a long way.

Outside of those points, this was a really entertaining entry with a great concept and strong use of the theme. Thank you again for making it, and we can't wait to see what you build next!

Thank you so much for the detailed and insightful feedback. We’re really glad to hear that you enjoyed the concept and felt the theme shone through.

To be honest, development was super rushed on our end due to the limited time, so a lot of mechanics and sound balancing didn't get as much polish as we had hoped.

Your suggestion about tying the shooting and salvaging loops together (having enemies drop scrap to vacuum) is brilliant! That makes total sense for making the vacuum mechanic feel central again. We’ll definitely take your feedback on the gameplay loop and sound design to heart for upcoming updates to refine and polish the game further.

Thanks again for hosting and for all your support.
