This is so good of a game. I had to tap my foot all the time to follow the rythm. Like others say the aiming is difficult, because you have to aim and tap with the same finger/hand. I use Xbox gamepad controller. Aiming is right analog and tapping is X. It would be better if tapping is RT. Otherwise it is a very good basic game, reminded me of Hi-Fi rush. And the pixel art and fx is cool too. Good job dev!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback.

I tried the opening dungeon and liked the pixel art and the GOOD/PERFECT feedback on attacks.

Aiming while keeping the beat was tricky for me; a slower practice round would help. Great work!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. I'm actually just starting out—an aspiring solo dev—and the only code I've mastered is Lua. PICO-8 is really limited, so it's very hard to create anything long-form, though I do have a Freddy game on my Itch page (with a beginning, middle, and end) made in PICO-8. Game dev is a hobby for me. Cheers from Brazil!

I think wasd + mouse so you can aim your strikes would feel a decent bit better, but I do like the concept! Its quite charming!

Also you might want to only drive score/combo up when you hit an enemy? Since I think you can just chill in the corner driving up your score otherwise :P

Fun little game though!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, Pico-8 is very restrictive, so getting something out of it is tricky—but I'm learning. I work in game audio; the dev side is a hobby I'm currently learning.

ah okay, I am not too familiar with pico-8, great job especially with any restrictions in place. Its an excellent hobby and I wish you luck on that journey :) You definitely seem to be at a great spot with your learning so far :)

Developer

This feedback is important to me, as Pico-8 is extremely restrictive. I try to do my best with it—thanks.

Lovely game! Great concept and a solid skeleton. I would suggest either including WASD and spacebar as controls or making a pop up at the start stating the controls. Also, this was very difficult. Perhaps increasing knockback and lowing enemy speed would help. Great job on this.

Developer

Hey there! I'm glad you liked it. I actually work in game audio—my Instagram is @rafaelgameaudio—so the dev side is just a hobby for me. Unfortunately, Pico-8 is quite limited; you have to work with very little storage space. I use Pico-8 to flesh out my ideas, and some of them are already being discussed for larger releases. I really appreciate the feedback—feel free to follow me and keep up with my work. Thanks a lot! Cheers from Brazil.

i guess i don’t have much coordination lol

i really liked the idea, it’s really well structured, but it was pretty hard. i couldn’t kill the 30 enemies xD maybe it would be a bit easier if the damage was around you instead of having to aim while moving toward the enemies

Developer

Thanks for the feedback; that was actually my intention—to make it challenging, heh. But give it another go—it's just a matter of time before you get the hang of the enemies. There are only three levels, and the finale is going to be intense.

Very funny game, also very hard. I think that the need to aim for the enmy is not really necessary, sometimes you make a parfect beat and you dont hit the enemy because it was behind you or on your side and it feels a bit unfair. But overall good game.
