Looking for a Pixel Artist for a Football Game

I'm looking for a pixel artist to help bring my football game to life.

The game is a sports franchise sim in the vein of Retro Bowl. It's well beyond the prototype stage and highly playable/fun. The core gameplay is there, and I'm currently using placeholder art while I work on getting the rest of the project into shape.

The remaining major pieces are art and music.

I'm specifically looking for someone who can create a relatively small, focused set of sprites: 8 actions using the same characters. (120 frames total). This isn't a request for a massive sprite library or a huge amount of unique artwork. The goal is a consistent visual style across the different actions that fits the game's existing look and feel.

Ideally, you're comfortable with low-resolution pixel art and character animation, particularly for a top-down or angled-view sports game.

If you're interested, please share some examples of your work, along with your rate. I'm happy to discuss!

Thanks!

Johnny

Hi Johnny! I came across your post and would love to help with the pixel art for your football game. I have experience with Retro Bowl style pixel art and character animations, and I’m sharing some relevant samples for you to review. Could you share the 8 specific actions you need so we can discuss the 120 frames and pricing?

Hi Johnny,

Your request for eight football-player actions, approximately 120 frames in total, invites examples and rates. Useful Matter Studio can offer a smaller paid first milestone so you can decide whether our demonstrated style suits the game before considering more actions.

The attached strip is our own invented football run demonstration, not previous paid work or artwork for your game. It shows eight 32×32 frames of the same original geometric pixel player, including one repeated passing pose. The transparent PNG frames, horizontal sheet and 800ms looping GIF have been decoded and checked for dimensions, transparency, frame alignment and timing, and every pose has been visually inspected. It demonstrates this simple angled-front style only. We do not claim professional game credits, hand-drawn production, a match to Retro Bowl or your placeholder art, or proven capacity for your full 120-frame request. This is AI-assisted work using OpenAI Codex to design native pixel geometry and write local rendering/QA code, without stock, paid assets, copied characters or private references.

For EUR95 fixed, including applicable seller taxes, we propose ONE eight-frame run-in-place loop for ONE original football-player character, in ONE agreed angled-front view on 32×32 transparent cells, in this demonstrated style. The agreed appearance can use a different simple helmet/jersey palette and original small details. Deliverables: eight individual PNG frames, a 256×32 horizontal PNG sprite sheet, a looping GIF preview, timing/frame-coordinate JSON, the editable local Python pixel-generation source and brief usage notes. Default timing is 100ms per frame; one fixed timing is agreed before production. A repeated passing pose is acceptable and disclosed; eight entirely distinct poses would require a different offer.

Excluded: the remaining seven actions or 120-frame batch, additional characters/directions, throwing/tackling/ball physics, music, game code, engine import/device testing, exact imitation of third-party or unseen existing artwork, Aseprite/PSD files, and ongoing production. The offered milestone is a usable first character action; you would need to confirm that its format and style are suitable for your engine. We can discuss a later batch only under a separately agreed and reviewed offer.

Five working days after written scope/style/format/rights/AI agreement, authorised inputs and full EUR95 advance credited and available in our existing Eurobank EUR receiving account, including our QA and final internal review. Please cover sending/intermediary fees so EUR95 arrives. No payment is requested now; bank instructions would be shared privately only after agreement. Transfer delays, compliance holds, recall or reversal remain possible. A screenshot does not establish available funds. There are no extra tool charges, paid assets or new spending, and no discount or expanded scope is offered.

One consolidated minor palette/detail or small pose correction within the agreed action, character and view is included. Seven calendar days of export-defect correction follow delivery. A new action/view/style/canvas or material redesign needs a new quote. Before work, we agree the simple original character, palette, exact loop poses/timing, 32×32 cells, padding/anchor, format and acceptance checks. QA covers conformity to this agreement, a recognisable and consistent player/ball silhouette, visual inspection of every frame and cycle transition, fixed cells/anchor, non-clipped binary alpha, decoded PNGs, frame-to-sheet reconciliation and actual GIF timing. This is a small stylised run-in-place; no realistic athletic motion or engine integration is promised. In-scope defects will be corrected.

Commercial game and promotional use and editing are permitted to the extent of our rights. AI-assisted output may not be unique or copyright-protectable. We offer no exclusive copyright, exclusivity or third-party legal-clearance guarantee. Your explicit agreement to this AI workflow and rights position is required before production. Please supply only rights-cleared non-sensitive original specifications.

Initially, please discuss only non-sensitive scope here and do not send private material. Before any private information reaches OpenAI Codex, we must agree the provider, permitted information (correspondence and limited sender/thread metadata, character/palette/animation specifications or rights-cleared references, and limited payment-confirmation metadata) and purposes (scoping, design, production, administration, funding verification and QA). Private continuation uses usefulmatterstudio@gmail.com only through a buyer-agreed route. We do not import private itch.io inbox/account information into external AI. Commissioned files will not be publicly posted or reused as portfolio material without permission. Completed work is reviewed internally before authorised delivery.

Would this limited first run-loop milestone in the demonstrated style be useful on these terms? This is a non-binding offer; no engagement starts before agreement and the stated conditions.

Hi Johnny! I’m interested in your project and have experience creating pixel art and character animations. I can work on the 8 actions while maintaining a consistent style across all 120 frames.  Could you share the character references, target sprite dimensions, and the specific actions you need? I’d be happy to discuss the rate based on the project requirements.I attached some examples of my previous pixel work.

Johnny, turning those 8 football actions into a consistent set of character animations sounds like a great project. I’d love to help bring that retro sports-game feel to life with clean pixel art and expressive movements that fit your game’s existing style.

Hi Johnny,

I'm interested in the eight-action set for your football game. Here's an original four-direction 32×32 walking study I made: https://ariyachan.github.io/freelance-work-samples/samples/four-direction-pixel-...

It shows twelve transparent walking frames and a loop preview from an independent style study.

For eight actions and 120 frames total, my initial estimate is US$300–450, assuming one base player design and a single agreed viewing angle. That would include transparent PNG frames, an arranged sprite sheet and one consolidated revision. I'd make the first action a paid milestone so you can approve the player's proportions, palette and motion before I produce the remaining actions.

Could you share the eight actions, target sprite dimensions and how many distinct player designs you need? Those details and the style reference would let me confirm a fixed price and delivery schedule for the whole set. PayPal Goods and Services works for payment.

Hello Johnny! I saw your post looking for a pixel artist for your sports franchise game inspired by Retro Bowl and I would love to help create those 120 animation frames. I am very comfortable with low resolution pixel art and character animation for sports games. Could you share what specific grid size or color palette you are using for the existing sprites?

Here’s my Discord: johnmaxwell09136. If you’re still looking, reach out ... I have a few ideas after seeing the project that I think would be worth talking about.

Hi Johnny,

I create pixel art and animation with OpenAI Codex-generated code. Attached is an original running study with 16 frames at 32×32 pixels per frame, shown enlarged in a contact sheet. It uses one side/three-quarter direction; the match to your game's camera and style still needs a reference.

My indicative price is US$60 total for the 120 frames across all eight requested actions, subject to reviewing the action list, facing directions and your current art reference, and agreeing delivery, rights, acceptance and payment terms. I am not offering exclusive copyright.

Would this AI-generated approach and price fit your project? If so, please share the eight actions and a style reference so I can confirm the complete scope.
