Besides opportunities, Dao Heart goes up with every major breakthrough (+3), when you pass the heart demon trial at a breakthrough (+6) or beat the heart demon during a tribulation (+5), through your personal disciples’ story chapters (several choices give +2 to +5), and through some of the main story’s choices. It also recovers on its own up to 50. Above 50 it’s meant to be earned, but you’re right that there’s no steady way to work on it, and that’s something I’m looking at.
