I tried to play but it wanted me to download/install a bunch of UE and/or Microsoft things and my computer is old and precarious so I didn't want to chance having my Windows messed up.

Hi Mandy, thanks for trying to play! Just for the future if you ever want to play a downloadable game in a game jam, the zip file just holds the info for the computer so that you can play the game. You don't need to install anything just run the .exe. We are however planning to make a html version when we try a jam again, just easier.

You just mansplained zip files and video games to a TECHNOLOGY JOURNALIST, VIDEO GAME REVIEWER, and VIDEO GAME DEVELOPER. I told you what happened. It wanted extra shit installed when I tried to run the exe that was in the zip that holds the info for the computer so that I can play the game.

Hi Mandy, forgive my misunderstanding, I did not mean to misrepresent our team or offend you at all ( I am the mortified woman on our team). Thank you for pointing out the error, we will be trying html in the next jams.

I would suggest that you test your public builds on older machines and see what types  of requirements and errors they kick up.

Given the kinds of games that you guys develop, and the sizes, a web build won't be viable for everyone. I don't know how big the web build of your 231 MB zipped download would be but there's no way any of my browsers would be able to handle it.
