not so cozy top down action — sneak, shoot, or team up? [WIP]

Hey! I'm making not so cozy top down action, a top-down game about getting through dangerous streets. You can sneak past patrols or fight your way through. There's also peer-to-peer co-op for two players.

Here are two short clips of how it plays right now. The UI in the videos is still in Russian, so I added screenshots with English labels below. There's no public demo yet.

Sneaking — 0 kills

Going loud — 9 enemies

Which way looks more fun to you?

Playtest sign-ups are open! If you'd like to try the game, reply in this thread and I'll share the details. I also post updates on Telegram: https://t.me/lua_game_com

I'll keep sharing progress here. You can also follow me on itch.io: https://s0fted.itch.io/

New gameplay trailer! I've been testing a new map blockout and changing how combat feels.

The clip shows four things: whistle to lure an enemy, sneak up from behind for a stealth kill or knockout, switch weapons (hotkey planned), and go prone for better accuracy at long range. I also replaced auto-aim and auto-fire with manual aiming and shooting in this build.

It feels more like hardcore survival now. I'm considering keeping both manual and assisted modes for different players.

Which would you prefer: manual aiming or an assisted mode? If you'd like to join a playtest, reply here and I'll share the details.

I'm building a single-player top-down zombie game in Godot and hit the same question. I ended up with auto-attack by default plus a toggle to manual aiming with a small aim assist (around 15 degrees), so the player can switch mid-fight instead of committing to one style. The whistle lure is a nice touch for the stealth route, since noise becomes a tool and not just a risk. In co-op, would each player pick their own aiming mode, or would it be one setting for both?

I would say own aiming mode is ok – I played co=op games on PS with such feature as aim-assist, and it was personal settings, not server

Hordes, spores, and a pharmacy run

Hey! Two new WIP clips — a 300-infected horde test and a pharmacy run.

  • Go loud or stay quiet. Gunfire attracts nearby infected; suppressors and courtyard detours give you options.
  • Arcade or precise shooting. Aim assist keeps shootouts fast, while careful aiming rewards headshots. Recoil, distance and going prone affect accuracy.
  • Spores make shortcuts risky. The contaminated courtyard drains health and makes you cough, alerting enemies. A medical mask blocks both.
  • Pick your way into the pharmacy: sneak past patrols to the front door, pry open the service shutter with a crowbar (noisily), or fight through. Grab the meds, choose what fits in your backpack, and get back to the car.

Which route would you take? Want to playtest? Reply here!
