The story consists much of mood and subtext. There's not really much happening here - no action scene, no typical conflict, no resolution - but it is more a flow of feelings and re-evaluation of relationships. That gives the story which could have been a classic choose-your-own-adventure but decided not to be, a dreamlike quality, and it feels off and distanced, conveying the emotions of the protagonist.
While Beebster calls for a clear goal, he views this work as a typical game but it is not, in my opinion; I think it is more an introspection, a psychological journey, a search for insights. And it carries the theme well.
