Being curious about the state of the game (abandonned or not?) I tried to contact the dev on Twitch (livestreaming Baldur 3) but chatting is requiring me to share my phone number with Twitch, which is a big no.
Theres a discord server with an announcements and changelogs channel among other things. The join link is both in the game itself (bottom) and in the Itch game description.
The game is still being actively updated but its slower because of asset creation, fixing bad code, balancing the game, etc.
Last updatre seems to have fixed my exploration problems (I was stuck in Silent Lake, 250k explo with nothing being unlocked. Now it's OK and I just found the Giant Structure).
