Good fun, I like how you have to weigh up staying warm vs jump agility, nice work!

Use of the limitation
I've interpreted the limitation: “staying warm” by making the player a being made entirely of fire, who must carefully manage their heat to survive. Also please do note that the player's jump height depends on their size (smaller = jumps higher)

I REALLY enjoyed your game!!
The music is super cute, and THE PIXEL ART... OH MY GOD, THE PIXEL ART!!! PLEASE TEACH ME YOUR WAYS XD
The gameplay was really fun too! I got a little scared when the rain started because I thought it was game over XD
But seriously, great concept, great game, and AMAZING WORK!!
This was an awesome use of the jam's limitation. There's a lot you have to plan and manage here and I love it! Even having the pools of water fill up from the rain was a super nice touch. Great job!
Hi!
The cover art really captures that autumn atmosphere! I loved the orange and blue contrast. I know it's easy to get lost in those little details, but here it worked beautifully.
The achievements were a really fun addition, and the UI felt incredibly polished. Honestly, I think it might be the most polished UI I've seen in this entire jam! I even got the impression that you're a very organized person. By the way, I couldn't tell which engine you used from the loading screen. Godot? Unity?
That first leaf on the hill had me trying for several minutes! I also ran into a small issue when switching to fullscreen mode. It didn't work for me, so that's something worth checking for a future 2.0 version.
Discovering that the smaller you get, the higher you can jump was quite a surprise! It took me a while to figure that out, but I eventually managed to overcome the challenges.
Overall, there are some really interesting ideas here, and I love how the game creates this sort of silent conversation with the player, letting you discover its mechanics on your own.
That said, would you consider adding a short in-game tutorial next time?
Thanks for sharing your game!
Best!
Super cute game! I really like the concept of staying warm as yourself. I was going to agree with other commenters about certain gameplay aspects, like not being able to reach the leaves, until I realized how I jumped super high before dying to rain!! I really love that aspect! I saw you stated you wanted to have a type of tutorial, and i think that would be great. I hadn't gotten much further than the first round.
The game has very interesting mechanics, and the platforming is very responsive. thanks for the game!
Overall, I really enjoyed the game! There are a few things I'd like to highlight:
- The less fuel you have, the higher you can jump. I really like this mechanic because it encourages players to balance their resources, and keeping your fuel at maximum isn't always the best option. However, the game doesn't explain this mechanic. When I first couldn't reach a leaf that seemed too high, I initially thought the level design hadn't been thought through properly.
- The background darkening before the rain starts is a really nice little detail. It helps set the mood and signals that something is about to happen.
- I'd consider adding alternative ways for players to reduce their fuel intentionally. Even though the game is short, I found it a little frustrating to stand still and wait for the rain just to be able to jump higher. Giving players more control over this mechanic could make the gameplay feel more engaging.
For a three-day game jam, I think this is a pretty good game! My main suggestions would be to improve the tutorial so players can understand the mechanics more easily and give them a little more control over the gameplay.
I hope to see more of your projects in the future! =D
Yes, I wanted to make a tutorial but didn't have enough time, so i tried to add it in the description of the game page.. But the player can reduce fuel intentionally using water droplets (introduced in the 2nd level) and using the fireball attack. i'll try to add tutorials in later jams. Thanks for the feedback!
First off, great job on your first game jam! Short jams like this are quite difficult as you really have to cut back on scope and get everything done quickly. There were a lot of little details that I did like about the game, such as the rain and extra jump mechanics. One issue I had was that the music was a little too repetitive and basic. If your looking for good free music to use I highly recommend Alkakrab, Kevin McLaughlin, or xDeviruchi. Overall, great job :)
I love the rain mechanics, the water rising is a great little touch!
Really nice that you found a reason to be cold.
Your interpretation is actually different from others I have seen.
Quite enjoyable. Put a smile on my face the moment I knew I can jump higher when the flame is smaller.
A few surprising things I loved, especially the rain making the water level rise, great work!
