Wonderful little game. Would enjoy this being extended even :)
If you don't mind sharing, how did you create the coloring effect? Is it a custom shader?

Use of the limitation
In Muldeun, warmth is color. The world has gone gray and cold, and painting it is how you keep warm. Standing in the gray slowly shortens the child's red scarf, and when it runs out the stage starts over. Paint fades after a couple of seconds, so you have to keep painting just to stay warm. The footholds work the same way: ivy, leaves and clouds only hold you while they're warm. You finish each stage by warming the cold heart of the forest.

Yes, a fairly simple custom shader. A full-screen ColorRect on a CanvasLayer above the background draws both the gray and the colored areas. An autoload script keeps a low-res mask of the whole world that records what's been colored (by the wand, the stone lanterns, restored areas), uploads it as a texture every frame, and the shader samples it at each pixel's world position.
really cool visuals and mechanics, loved the use of the limitation as well. could have done with a volume slider though
Delightful puzzle platformer! Painting is a lot of fun, and it's helped by the gorgeous art direction.
Lots of cool technical art on display too. I saw you generated all the graphics in code. Are you using SDF's for shapes?
I also used desaturation as a lever to control warmth, but sometimes crank up the blue channel to emphasize cold.
If you're interested, there's a very interesting video about color temperature from YouTuber "Lighting Mentor", it's living rent free in my mind since I first saw it this summer.
I love the art and sfx and everything its beautiful. i have a "warm the forest" kind of game as well but its an incremental if you like those stuff. i really liked your game
The game is absolutely beautiful with a very good concept-- I wish I had a mouse cause turns out I'm terrible at playing games on trackpad XD
