What's Everyone Making for the Jam?

Hey everyone!

I'm working on a first-person psychological horror game called WRONG WAY, and I'm really curious about everyone's projects!

What inspired your game idea?
Was there a mechanic you really wanted to try?
What's been the hardest part of development so far?
And most importantly, are you happy with how your game is turning out?

I'd love to hear about what you're making and how the jam is going for you! It's always cool to see how differently everyone approaches game development.

Good luck, everyone!

I'm making a metroidvania (with my partner) and honestly were going to cut it pretty close:)

Haha, good luck to you both!! I hope you manage to finish it in time :) What kind of game is it going to be?

We’re thinking like a medieval survival type where you’re getting hunted down the whole game.

Ohh nice haha, medieval survival sounds like an interesting combo! Are you guys making it in 2D or 3D?

1st person horror game sounds good. looking forward to trying it out :) . Im still a beginner at this game dev stuff and trying out a 1st person game where the player looks after a graveyard where the aim is to fix things that the skeletons break and stops the zombies from escaping. each night gets a little harder with more things to manage all at once.  I wanted to practice coding fundamentals that make a game easier to scale and i want to try different genre's to find which i enjoy the most. finding my niche i suppose :)

What ive found difficult so far is avoiding scope creep. u have some ideas then start trying to implement something and realise how long it takes so then try and scale it down while also trying to make it fun! How about u, what are the biggest challenges for a horror game? and what engine are u using? im in Unity

Thanks a lot! Your graveyard game sounds really interesting, especially the idea of having to manage more things each night. I can definitely relate to the scope creep problem haha. It's easy to come up with new ideas, but finding the time to implement them while keeping the game fun is a real challenge.

For WRONG WAY, one of the challenges I've faced was getting the perspective right. Making the 3D environment look and feel the way I wanted took some trial and error. I'm also trying to create a creepy atmosphere without relying too much on jumpscares.

I'm using Three.js for the game. Good luck with your project.
