Hey everyone,

The game is still in full, active development. As my own skills improve, I keep going back to redesign parts of it to make it better. There’s always one more thing I want to tidy up before I’m happy to call it done. I hope you’ll bear with me on that; I’d rather take the time to get it right than rush something out.

I’m also pleased to say performance on actual hardware is solid now, and my god, that took some time to get right.

I’m about to release a public demo soon, so you’ll finally be able to get a feel for the controls, try out the abilities, and experience a bit of the story for yourselves. There are also a good few hidden easter eggs tucked away in the demo for anyone who enjoys poking around where they probably shouldn’t. It might be just a smudge longer than planned, work and life commitments have nudged it back a touch, but we’re talking less than two weeks, not months.

I’ve also been lucky enough to bring on a proper writer, a composer, and a poet I met at a local open mic night. Yes, really. It’ll make sense once you see it! I will say this though: you are going to love the music. I’ve heard early bits of it and it’s easily one of the things I’m proudest to put in front of you.

A quick note on the screenshots and GIFs I’ve been sharing: they’re more up to date than what I had during earlier testing, but I’ve deliberately kept them away from the story and mostly show off test builds I’ve been tinkering with. Think of it as the blooper reel rather than the film, so when you actually play the demo it’ll still feel like a fresh experience rather than something you’ve already seen.

Thank you all so, so much for your patience and support. I’m doing my best to make this the best game it can possibly be; it’s genuinely become a love letter to the Playdate for me. My family and I are incredibly grateful to every one of you.

Keith
