Hey everyone,
The game is still in full, active development. As my own skills improve, I keep going back to redesign parts of it to make it better. There’s always one more thing I want to tidy up before I’m happy to call it done. I hope you’ll bear with me on that; I’d rather take the time to get it right than rush something out.
I’m also pleased to say performance on actual hardware is solid now, and my god, that took some time to get right.
I’m about to release a public demo soon, so you’ll finally be able to get a feel for the controls, try out the abilities, and experience a bit of the story for yourselves. There are also a good few hidden easter eggs tucked away in the demo for anyone who enjoys poking around where they probably shouldn’t. It might be just a smudge longer than planned, work and life commitments have nudged it back a touch, but we’re talking less than two weeks, not months.
I’ve also been lucky enough to bring on a proper writer, a composer, and a poet I met at a local open mic night. Yes, really. It’ll make sense once you see it! I will say this though: you are going to love the music. I’ve heard early bits of it and it’s easily one of the things I’m proudest to put in front of you.
A quick note on the screenshots and GIFs I’ve been sharing: they’re more up to date than what I had during earlier testing, but I’ve deliberately kept them away from the story and mostly show off test builds I’ve been tinkering with. Think of it as the blooper reel rather than the film, so when you actually play the demo it’ll still feel like a fresh experience rather than something you’ve already seen.
Thank you all so, so much for your patience and support. I’m doing my best to make this the best game it can possibly be; it’s genuinely become a love letter to the Playdate for me. My family and I are incredibly grateful to every one of you.

Hi the game is still in development. I have been having two issues.
-
I got covid bad and it put me in hospital for about a month and now I am home somedays I do not have the energy. Weird as I have had covid before and I was fine.
-
I have been working on getting the frame rate better, the more awesome stuff I have added to the game the more I needed to optimise it.
Please look at the video to see some new bits.
Out now on the Apple Mac Store for FREE world wide. https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/pdmanager/id6751735648?mt=12 pdmanager
Firstly thank you for taking the time to play and thank you for the feedback! The fact anyone played it is mind bending to me. I will have a look into refining the planchette mechanic experience. I did anticipate this a little and incorporated the response into the dialogue in some cases.
The game was initially a lot darker in theme and had curse words for example but the play tests reported that;
- Swearing added nothing to the game and detracted from the characters due to their age.
- The story was initially too heavy and this made it hard to wrap up to a conclusion and somewhat was not enjoyable so a lighter approach was selected. However the theme of the game did not play test with younger people (14 -18) before being toned down.
I would be open to refining the story as it is very simple due to the story composer tooling I made which essentially generates the dialog boxes based on a film like script. This would also allow you an opportunity to play it again.
