It took a lot of blind stabs in the dark to finally find the right subfolder from this sphinx's riddle, but okay, here we go, full instructions:
- In the Frame's Desktop, use your browser to download and extract FramePort's ARM release; you could also link up and use it via host PC, but since we're running the game headless, may as well go full headless. Also download the Sclerosis APK while you're at it.
- In your Steam Library, ensure Amnesia: The Dark Descent is set to run via Proton. Gear icon > Properties > Compatibility > Proton Stable; you need the Windows release, this will grab that. Install it.
- Alternatively: a GOG or other installer should in theory work if that's what you have but you'll likely need to make a Steam shortcut to it, install via Proton, and then manually find an accessible folder to install to or figure out which random-long-number compatdata subfolder it wound up in (beyond the scope of this guide).
- In Steam, Steam Settings > System > Enable Developer Mode.
- In Desktop, go to where you extracted FramePort and run it. It should go through a short first-time setup and prompt you to pick a folder or an APK.
- Before picking the APK, if you want to install to SD, go to the Steam Frame tab on the left, scroll down to Storage and set it there. Then locate and select the Sclerosis APK you downloaded earlier. It'll take a minute to verify.
- Sclerosis will now have an entry in your FramePort library, but it's not yet installed; do that. It will take a while, several minutes+, and there's a chance it'll hang indefinitely at a point in the Patching process. Fingers crossed this doesn't happen to you because I don't know how to fix it other than trying with a separate FramePort install via host PC.
- Assuming the install is successful, FramePort will automatically run a test launch of the game. BE PATIENT AND DO NOT INTERFERE. A generic Android workspace will appear and seem to idle for a minute or two before the game "launches" in your VR space and will likely display inapplicable instructions on copying Amnesia's files to the Quest root.
- The test launch may register as a pass or fail; it's immaterial at this point, if you were able to see the instructions or FramePort says the process launched but didn't run properly you should be good to proceed. Exit the Sclerosis process if it didn't already self-terminate, then go back into Desktop.
- If you haven't already, you may need to enable Show Hidden Files (hamburger menu in the top-right of any Dolphin window). If you installed Amnesia to SSD, the folder starts at ~/.steam/steam/steamapps. If SD, it'll be /steamapps under the SD root. From there: /common/Amnesia The Dark Descent.
- Here's the million dollar step: move or copy the Amnesia The Dark Descent folder to [FramePort's target drive]/FramePort/com.CreaTeam.Sclerosis/lepton-data/external
- FramePort should have added a Steam Library entry for Sclerosis during install; if it's not showing up, Steam > Power > Restart Steam. You can also turn off Developer Mode from step 4 if you want.
- Launch Sclerosis via Library shortcut. You'll see the Android workspace again (and again, it might take a minute, don't mess with it until ingame). Enjoy! You also might need to configure Frame controller offsets via Steam or your default hand poses are gonna resemble a real Igor hunch.
