The writing for this was really gripping! I liked how as the story went on, the house becomes stranger and stranger-- and it becomes clear whatever the player is, isn't really a normal human... only for the "horror" to be that the attic is normal when it's not supposed to be. Very interesting little snippet of a world, which is effective. Gotta resist the tendency to over explain or over-stay in stories like these, haha.

I do wish there was a LITTLE audio ambience but I totally understand jams are a ton of work as is. Great game, good job!

The writing style for this fit so nicely. It made things feel tense, kind of distant, but also weirdly oppressive at the same time. The UI felt great too, often sometimes forgetting it was Ren'py. I actually liked how you left a lot of things open ended and mysterious. Nice work and would love you to explore some of these ideas and concepts in the future too!

(also I really like the name)

Thank you so much for playing! I am so happy you enjoyed the writing and UI <- definitely my favourite part of the design process. I also like the name a lot but I am very biased. <3

The UI was great!  Really a shot of nostalgia.  Got eaten by house.  Good times.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and for feeding the house - it definitely appreciates it! <3

Kept me hooked all the way through! I do wish there was some kind of sound design in it, even just a buzzing ambiance or something like that, but otherwise really enjoyed the themes, writing, and approach!

Especially love the UI presentation, and the way it's formatted like an old text adventure game -- with the image on the left and the dialogue describing the action on the right. My favourite room has to be the one with beds stacked end to end with no floor space. Really enjoyed how the rooms go from normal dilapidated to backroomsy incoherent ones too!

Writing wise, what would make it even better for me is some kind of explanation or conclusion for how & why the house contains rooms that were alive even though it was dead -- you set up a really interesting premise/promise and I was hoping for a neat answer to round it all up at the end, buuut in saying that even if you left it unanswered, it was still a really good experience!

Hoping you make more spacial exploration experiences like this in the future :)

Thanks so much for playing! I completely agree with your notes regarding sound and I will for sure include it in future projects. I am also happy to hear that you enjoyed the no floor bedroom as it is one of my personal favourites. <3

I’ll definitely explore this world a little more in depth in the future - so hopefully I can answer your remaining questions!

This one will stick with me for a long, long time. What an incredibly masterful work of fiction. I hope, only, that more people will read this and that you might do more with this concept in the future. The writing is crisp and free of excess, but ensures you get everything you need at every point. I am in awe at how astoundingly great Anatomy of a House was. Bravo, and congratulations on the release.

I loved the writing style for this game a lot! It read really well and had the amount of thoughtful description that I enjoy! I also really liked the visuals and the overall offputting liminal vibe was thoroughly achieved! Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing. Happy to hear that I achieved that liminal vibe, definitely one of my main goals for the project! ^^

This was a fascinating playthrough. I overall very much enjoyed this concept of "living" and "dead" spaces. For the game jam's sake, I'll give my thoughts in a noted format.

-The visuals were my favorite aspect of the game easily, I have a huge soft spot for highly textured visuals and this is exactly what I look for in new games. The use of color was entertaining, and I feel introduction of the house's spaces were carefully done as well so very great job with this :)

-The lack of sounds both contributes to the unsettling nature of the game, and also takes away from its immersion, so I'm not entirely sure how I would rate this based on audio, but your story telling would probably be greatly supported by sound. On average, I think audio will be expected for most VN styled games so definitely consider a partner or potentially learning some audio stuff if you're interested.

-Your writing style is concise, but also I enjoyed when you let it get unhinged and started repeating phrases, or letting some anxiety induced thoughts cut through. Very solid writing overall.

-The endings were unique and interesting, although I kind of found myself hoping for like one more ending, maybe one that connects all the house concepts together - mainly the fresh blue, the old rotting orange, and the virus itself.

Your stuff is right up my alley though, so I'm keeping an eye out for your future games :)

Thank you so much for playing and for taking the time to provide feedback! :D

I definitely hope to revisit these odd little spaces in the future and I will be sure to keep your points in mind when I do. <3
