Cool game. Wasn't able to get through most of it because my crappy pc kept crashing. But great job overall!
I am so impressed with this game! The art is amazing, and the music is so on point. Im about to leave some composer comments here, because thats my forte. I love that I am hearing some contrary motion in the melody (thats unusual for a game score) ! The music loops do get a bit repetitive, and I would have like to hear some adaptive layers when you go into the town. I do love the music change though. The melody layered in with the percussion is very uplifting.
How did you get those mountains in the background? I also loved the NPCS, the Lucky Fox cafe name, and the sweet day night cycle. I think having like some sort of automated cart to take you back to your cottage would have been cool.
I am kind of failing to see the theme being used here though. Am I missing something? Aside from that, its really a wonderful game. I think you should consider making this into a full release. If you ever need help with SFX or music lmk! I work with lots of teams with their audio. :)
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to play the game myself because Windows Defender kept blocking it, and I couldn't find a workaround. :(
Luckily, while scrolling through the comments, I found a YouTube video of someone playing it, so I could at least get a good look at the game!
And WOW, the visuals are absolutely gorgeous! The forest looks incredible, and the trees are easily my favorite part. Especially when looking out over the landscape, the colors, lighting, and overall autumn atmosphere work so well together. I also really liked how cozy and alive the world feels, with all the little animals and characters you can interact with.
It's honestly impressive how much you managed to create in just two weeks! I really wish I could've experienced it myself, but even just watching the gameplay was a pleasure. Amazing work! ❤️
Thank you so much! We're overjoyed that a fan actually made an entire playthrough of our game, it's really saved us! We appreciate it more than you could imagine that you still chose to rate and leave a comment even though you couldn't play it yourself!
Love the ui, lighting, and trees!!! The lil drawn icons on the ui adds a nice touch to it, and exploring the forest was lowkey kinda fun even tho I was going to places I shouldn't be going to (also if ur going up those mountains n spam the jump button, the noise for jumping gets spammed aswell). I enjoyed getting to know the townspeople a bit, and I enjoyed playing your game aswell!!
You're the first person to comment the drawn icons! They were in fact placeholders and were meant to be replaced later, but when we had little time to finish the game we realised they actually looked quite decent, so we focused on other (more important) things instead. So we're quite happy that that's something you enjoyed!
Also, jumping uphill is lowkey one of my favourite parts of the game because it sounds so ridiculous xD
Thanks for playing and rating our game!
Hello,
Edit: Woops, I didn't read the page's notes before playing so these comments were written pre-reading those.
These girls need to learn to identify scams.
Its very picturesque, and the forest is definitely the center piece here
I wasn't really sure what to do after giving the grandma pies though, and I wanted to uncover the mystery of the previous owner, but I couldn't really figure it out.
It was fun to see the village change every now and then -
For suggestions here:
Overall, it looks really nice, the interface looks. Good work!
Thanks for the suggestions! We appreciate that you took time to describe neatly what we could improve for the future :D
You are so far the first one to mention the quality differences between the villagers and the forest, so it's actually great to get some new feedback! The villagers (and their houses, and the items in the forest, and the item icons, etc...) were actually just placeholders we made on the side just to have something until we could make proper models, but then time ran out and we got stuck with that 🙃
For this jam it was exclusively me modeling, texturing and designing the cabin and all the surrounding environment, while my partner was responsible for prototype and preview meshes :) She actually only learnt to 3D-model this month, so I'm quite impressed she even managed to finish all the characters! But for a future update, I will likely have remodelled all the characters and the houses in the town myself, so that the style and aesthetic works better as a whole.
Also, it is quite hilarious to see "Sell items in basket (8000 coins)", I never imagined I would be able to cause such a game-breaking bug in all my life! xD
Thanks for playing and rating our game!
> She actually only learnt to 3D-model this month
Woah that is impressive then kudos to her :D I would definitely play a more a completed version of this game if it existed
(っ╥﹏╥ς)
I think I might need to get a better laptop to really enjoy this game. I ended up watching the video of @Digital_Arcade to see the gameplay so I can properly rate you because the movement glitches and the dialouges don't appear at all for me.. (I tried changing the Options but didn't quite work for me)
Watching the stream, I was so amazed! ( ⚈o⚈ )
The art, the scenery! And you placed so much into writing. It's not specifically a part of the rating criteria but I wanted to show my admiration. It was fun listening to their stories ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡ (and it was extra fun to hear Digital_Arcade voice act them)
Overall? It's an amazing game! Really, really amazing. I am not fond of first-person perspective because I suffer from Simulation Sickness. As a gamer, my life is so limited... ( ;´ - `;)
HOWEVER, this is such a gorgeous game. I had fun watching it.
Awesome work, you and your partner!
✧。◝(ᵔᗜᵔ)◜✧*。
Thank you so much for all the kind words! We are beyond happy that Digital_Arcade made a video for us so that the experience was more accessible. We are aware that it's limited to newer PCs unfortunately, so that's something we plan to change in future games and make our games more accessible to everyone. Our last game actually supported both 3rd person and 1st person perspective so that people could choose how they wanted to play! This time we didn't have time to make a 3D model and animate it for the character, so we decided on 1st person for now, but we'll definitely return the 3rd/1st person switching for the future! I too struggle a lot with 1st person perspective in games...
Thanks again for your comment and for the rating! That means more to us than you could imagine!
I found this game really enjoyable! Its strongest point is definitely the lighting and the trees, which look absolutely beautiful and feel very well crafted. The music is also super relaxing, and the forest itself is designed really nicely, making it a great place to just wander around and soak in the atmosphere.
One small thing I wasn't completely sure about was how the glowing areas in the forest work. At one point I thought I found a dome made of sparkling particles, but after that I wasn't able to find anything similar again. Maybe making those areas a bit more common or a little easier to spot could be a cool improvement.
Other than that, I genuinely loved the game and had a really chill time playing it. Great job!
Yeah, we probably should have explained those domes more in-depth, but The Crow had a short explanation of them :)
They appear over dense areas of foragable items (but only once you've spotted the items!), but if you look away for a moment they will be gone (as the limitation goes). P.S. they will also fade away visually and not be visible from close up or inside, due to rendering issues, so they might've still been there if you were simply standing too close.
I think perhaps the biggest change I'd make to them is give them a different colour, so they'd stand out better in the yellow forest. Thanks a lot for the feedback though! You're the first person to mention the sparkling domes so we're quite happy to actually hear someone noticed them at all :D
Thanks for playing our game!
Absolutely beautiful game. I had the most fun just roaming around and enjoying the scenery. The vista on the path to the little village was particularly stunning.
We worked a lot on the art and design of this game! We spent so much time making the game look "autumny" that we never got to give it any real narrative or goal, so we're overjoyed to hear you liked the aesthetic and scenery of the game!
Graphics are beautiful. The only thing i could say is that it isn't to intuitive for what I was meant to do (personally) but I got there eventually. Great work :)
Thank you! We understand that it wasn't really intuitive... because we never really got to make an ending or any goal in the first place ':D
But we appreciate that you took the time to play it either way! Our goal was always to make the game stand out visually to capture the essence of autumn :)
How'd yall get so much done lol. The 3d visuals are awesome and the characters are fun to talk to, i think ur game is like the ideal version of what i wanted to make if i had the time.. Great job!
Haha, we almost burned entirely out making this... We took a week off university just to get everything done, and I almost uploaded the game with a game-crashing bug only five minutes before the deadline! So we're happy to see that the time put into the project is visible in the result :D
Also, you shouldn't be so hard on yourself, especially when you've made all the art yourself, and even made your art in a different style than you usually do! I think your game had a lovely charm of it's own, and the way all your assets fit together in your world gave your game a holistic feel I've never managed when making 2D games.
We thank you for taking the time to rate our game and leave a comment! It means a lot to us <3
I loved the game, the autumnal atmosphere was incredible, and I really enjoyed talking to everyone, especially the animals! they models were so good. Congratulations on creating such a substantial game in such a short amount of time. There were moments when the walking felt a bit long, but thanks to the visuals, it never became bothersome. A great experience. For a 2 week jam this was a breath taking game
I get a bug where I was able to sell items that I didn't have, but hey, I won't complain about extra money lol
Haha yeah, that infinite money bug is going to haunt me the rest of my life... I have already fixed it (in fact, only a few hours after submitting the game), but since we aren't allowed to update the game during the voting period I've had to survive the torment of letting people play the game with the bug 🙃
But thanks a lot for the comment! I really appreciate that people take time to write a comment when rating the game, and it warms our hearts to know that you liked the game.
Very cozy for sure, but I did not really enjoy the gameplay the way it seems a lot of other people did. The long walk to town got annoying very quickly, and while that could just be a me thing, I don't think it works with the fact that each day has a time limit that's progressively going. And while I did enjoy the crow watching over an area to prevent the ingredients from going away, it doesn't make up for the fact that collecting stuff in the woods is just spamming E over and over again as you walk around. Also I just really didn't enjoy the music, it sounded too simple and not nearly cozy enough.
Still, I enjoyed the characters and the artwork well enough, I think this could be really good with some more time spent on it.
We actually agree wholeheartedly with all your criticism! Personally, we feel like this game ended up being something entirely different from what we planned, and there are some things I would have changed completely or even removed had we had more time. The music was a last-minute addition to the game, and I also find it to be quite repetetive and annoying. Me and my partner scrambled it together in a hurry with Bosca Ceoil a day before the deadline, so it's by far the least polished aspect of our game. Some audio actually even went missing in the final build of the game... so we're quite disappointed we're not allowed to upload hotfixes in the voting period.
But thanks a lot for playing our game! The fact that you took the time not only to download and play the game, but write a detailed feedback means more to us than you could imagine! It's something we will bring with us in all future jams, and the one thing that makes these kinds of game jams worth it every time.
We'll find some time to play and rate your game too one of these days!
This is such a charming game! I loved interacting with the villagers and animals, and I'm excited to see how the village changes with your next update! I baked a pumpkin pie for Edith and so I can now die happy. Also, I didn't mind the long walk to the village at all since it was so scenic and beautiful! Maybe a couple more animals could appear now and again to add to the dynamic nature of the woods and the paths. Overall, I loved the concept, and I'm so impressed with how big the world feels considering you only made this in two weeks! Fantastic job!
Knowing Edith is happy and well is all that truly matters in life ;)
We're happy you enjoyed the walk to the village! It's one of the more tedious parts of the design, and something we definitely would either shorten or add more stuff to in the future. In fact, we planned to have more cabins and traders out in the woods, as well as more animals and a more robust friend system, but there's only so much one can achieve in two weeks and with a partner entirely new to game development. We adored your game as well, and are happy we could share experiences like this! Thank you so much for playing our game!
Really charming game! The 3d visuals looked great, and I loved the warm autumn atmosphere. The whole world has a nice, cozy feel to it. I also liked the friends list feature, which was a nice touch and gave you a reason to get to know the different animals and villagers. There's quite a bit going on here between exploring, gathering ingredients, baking, and interacting with everyone. Really impressive amount of content for a two-week jam! Nice job!
Thank you! We really would have loved to polish the friends feature and develop the game further, but due to time limits we had to leave it where it is now. Perhaps in the future the game will have more characters and different unlockable storylines when making friends!
My favourite submission so far! Everything was so beautiful and calming. The visuals and audio really immersed me, and although the walks were long, they were enjoyable and gave me time to relax and take everything in. Halfway through, I realised I could turn the graphics up even further!
The dialogue was so sweet, foraging was fun, and helping Grandma was definitely a highlight. The baking system was simple but enjoyable too! There’s so much potential to expand on this. I’d love to see more ways to help the villagers and get involved in the town.
I did notice a bug in the shop where I could sell any amounts of items, even when I didn’t have them in my inventory, but don’t worry, I didn’t abuse it 😅
Very well done!
Thank you so much for the kinds words! That really warms my heart to hear <3
Another comment also mentioned the infinite selling bug, so I've already patched it and will publish it once the voting period is over! Thanks a lot for playing our game!
Beautiful and very well optimized cozy open world game. The visual style is amazing, but unfortunately the music got a bit repetitive. For me the merchants didn't take my items when I sold them and I could sell 100 items even though I only had few (infinite money :D). Walking between the town and the cottage was quite atmospheric even though it was a long walk. Maybe the collectable items could be added along that path to add more gameplay to the trips. Overall a fantastic entry for the jam!
Thanks for playing our game and thanks for the feedback! I can't believe that bug passed me by.... Simply unbelievable! It's patched now though, so it will be uploaded once the jam voting period is over. We'll definitely add some more variety to the music once we have more time and the voting is over (if we wish to continue working on the game, that is), and we already planned to design the level more thoroughly with a cabin or two to visit out in the forest and along the path, wandering traders and more items all over. Thank you for taking the time to play our game and rate it! It means a lot to us <3
I made a pumpkin pie for Edith! The scope of the game is ridiculously huge, and I'm impressed with what the team was able to achieve! I assume you have many things planned, but for this jam, my experience would have benefited from being able to access my inventory or a quest list at any time. I also think the distance between major locations can be shortened to keep the player more focused. I like how you used the limitation, and I can see its potential, though it didn't have much of an impact on my experience of the game in its current iteration. The most enjoyable aspects for me were the recipe and shopping systems, as well as the autumn colors and animal characters! Again, I imagine that there's more to come, but what is there, I like a lot! Great work, team!
Thanks a lot for the review and congrats on getting Edith a pumpkin pie! We appreciate the kind words and take the criticism wholly to heart! Did we forget to show the control for opening the inventory though? It should be openable at all times with TAB, but we might have forgotten to write that down... We'll do that the moment we're allowed to update the game! Thanks again for playing! We'll check out your game tomorrow :)
