As others have said, the art style here really stands out! The gameplay required experiment and discovery to figure out, which made me question if I had run into a game-breaking bug a couple of times. More feedback to the player would have helped a lot. I would have liked to remap controls or use my RMB to perform some of the other actions, too.

Welcome and congrats on your first submission to GWJ!

Developer

Thank you for playing.

We did indeed intend to have a "hey look a firefly (...) what could you maybe achieve with that" for each level, but time ran out and also it is a fine line between giving the right amount of info and spoon feeding 😅

Originally we wanted to have an info button for each bug which the player could use if they wanted to, but only then and not directly (where is the fun? 🤭)

So many ideas, so little time...

As for the control remap, we wanted it to be playable on mobile, so we went for a "one click does all" approach.

Your feedback is welcome, we hope you had fun and beat all levels (I am particularily proud of my late night drawn signal tower 😆).

This looked promising but I got stuck on something like the third screen. There was a cricket/grasshopper, that I promptly ate and clicking on the frog to enter interaction mode didn’t achieve anything. I jumped to my death and when I revived the cricket was gone and after many attempts I gave up on being able to make the long jump.

Couldn’t find a menu to restart, so I reloaded the game. Same thing happened. I eat cricket, cricket dies, I am stuck.

Very nice graphics and story throughout. I like the use of the theme.

Developer

The cricket gives you super jump, so when you try to jump high and slyghtiy right, you should land on the vine 🙂

Very cute! I'm afraid I also ran into some bugs (like Pippa not talking) which made it a bit difficult at times to figure out what to do. Still, nice job and congrats on your first jam submission!

Developer

That is so weird, we played the game a lot and didn't run into the Pippa Bug, but so many of the voters had it. 🥺

We will definetley, try to find and fix that one as soon as the jam is over.
