This looked promising but I got stuck on something like the third screen. There was a cricket/grasshopper, that I promptly ate and clicking on the frog to enter interaction mode didn’t achieve anything. I jumped to my death and when I revived the cricket was gone and after many attempts I gave up on being able to make the long jump.

Couldn’t find a menu to restart, so I reloaded the game. Same thing happened. I eat cricket, cricket dies, I am stuck.

Very nice graphics and story throughout. I like the use of the theme.

Rescue. You are meant to bring him back to where you started. The mobs will attack him too now, so you better have the ammo, gun skills or smart path finding strategy. There is a very effective tactic to this part of the game, but it would spoil the fun if I just told you it.

Mobs only spawn when you move BTW, it’s my concession to stealth.

I like piano, but after the first dozen plays, I’m deaf to it now.

Thanks for opining.

Thanks for playing and sharing. Enemies definitely will hurt the hiker. It’s the biggest cause of failure, probably (I play test quarter size maps). That’s the motivation to not run away, which you absolutely should from those creeps!

I am able to return to where I started to complete the mission, with the hiker, maybe you left him climbing a tree!?

There is limited ammo to collect in the level, seeing it is hard and only about half a dozen on that big map. Your ammo increases and there is a reload sound on contact. It’s a nice bonus to earn xp from before admitting defeat and that you can’t find the campfire. Maybe use a torch if you are unsure what to look for…

Bullet effects are my priority, seeing where the shot hit. I was fixing on making mobs one hit for a while, so it took a back seat; along with a lot of opportunities to juice the FX.

VFX are easier than a base kit gun to point, and a cross hair. The latter I’ll make as an upgrade, and maybe make more levels with better mobs.

Nicely balanced TD game. My mistake was in thinking ice towers were suitable defense, they mostly slow the inevitable. I didn’t really master the cutting the threads thing, when I tried, I did worse.

Made it to the final boss.

I liked the graphics, VA, tuning, and genre.

Any variation of Wordle is fully original IMO. Unlike this 43rd comment.

Immensely accessible, well presented and themed.

Unfortunately, I’m that player who clicks through most dialogs, reading as little as possible. Probably a bad habit from “re-rolling” in RPGs or smth. Fortunately the text is well paced here and I can click through at my leisure.

Yes. You are a Welsh park ranger, who miraculously happens to be packing heat. In DBD you have no reticule. I was going to make it an upgrade, like fixing the compass (which you just get base-kit now).

I was going to add particles for impact, but its blood and gore, and time. People said Valeria Márquez shooting looked fake, but yeah, I need to camp it for a game.

As for sound effects, it was either submit incomplete, or don’t submit at all.

Ingenious and fun. Great art, smooth animation and bold lines.

I didn’t read the “how to” on my first 2 runs. When I did the theme alignment clicked.

Controls could be a little more concise, for some reason WASD didn’t work first couple of games and I didn’t think to try Q and E to rotate. Who would, or could, use arrows and Q and E?

Great model, easy to work with. I dig the blockier aesthetic for being more consistent with my tastes.

I added a death animation, and found some stray vertices, but I am bad at blender and this was still a better experience than about half the models I used (and all those I didn’t).

Wow, I’ve never listened to a game until its sound track ended; while I believed it was just looping.

Solo mode is basically a tutorial, but that’s friendly, rewarding, and so well done.

The TODO list on my last jam entry kept me busy until a few days into this one. I ran out of time.

I’ve played worse games, but their devs must be so sick of them not to keep playtesting. I’m petitioning to submit critical bug fixes, the exit is not where you think. The flare is your only goal. I took pity and gave you a compass, but that doesn’t work, which I also consider game-breaking. As well as the fog blocking the flair visibility when you retry…

🤞 they let me fix these, as I find it enjoyable, but I would, wouldn’t I.

What about where downloads are forbidden? I prefer concentrating on the “universal” browser platform, such as it is. If my HD (not UHD) 630 can handle it, I don’t see how anyone would be playing with less than that.

You weren’t clear what exactly lagged, I just assumed you meant the start of the level. That is expensive, granted.

Thank you but if not my fault then whos? I’ve played 3D browser games, some are broken or slow for me, but not for anyone else. I’ve played others that are perfect. I assumed I had the lowest spec UHD 630 graphics.

Level generation takes a few seconds. I wish it didn’t but level design is expensive.

Lot’s of cool original narrative from the bot. I just said no to everything and kinda tuned out to crunch the numbers. A lot of variety for an incremental. I played thinking it was by a solo dev; reading the credits, I see a team effort. Figures; game is BIG (and good).

If I were to search hard for an improvement, I’d like more clarity on the dice rolls.

Thanks for playing. It’s a cross between stealth, survivial (the primary genre), and FPS. If you run out of bullets, you can speed run next time.. The theme is impending doom, so a straight up fire fight was always gonna be off the cards (and outta scope, like the furnishings).

Punch is time rationed, and you can hold fire to max it out, FWIW. What level did you get to?

Probably my favourite of this jam. In my last rounds I was within 10 of the target, then 2, then 1. Pretty frantic, but at that point I cut my losses and quit. Some roofs never turn green, and hunting for a pixel in their gutters was not addictive. Just my constructive on an otherwise flawless production.

I love modern history. Very atmospheric. The tutorial was like reading a big manual though. I would prefer it if the graphics (great as they were) could be more expressive, and the tutorial more bite sized. I don’t want to have to study a manual before playing.

I loved the gameplay, very novel. Consistent controls. I haven’t played Baba is You, but I imagine it would be like this.

Delightful and original. Who says 2D is dead. Could have done with knowing dash (Space) sooner as the to and fro is what it is. Good use of physics for drag and lighting.

Perfectly sized and tuned to a game jam.

Might want to have a look at the volume sliders.

Excellent work. Simple but juicy, with incrementally more juice.

Everything just works, which is disproportionately satisfying for playtesters.

Spot on music.

Combat is hard. The levels depend too much on RNG. Even when I was gifted a room full of crates, including the key card and two guns, at startup, I couldn’t figure out combat.

I thought for a while I had to press space when “engaged” but that only seems to damage me, and not deplete my ammo. Running away didn’t work either. So SPACE is to skip a turn, not fire. Why doesn’t the manual tell me how to shoot?

Looks and sounds good, with great inventory system.

The manual should be distilled on the game page, and can be improved.

I thought I found a bug, turns out it was just an undiagnosed Flush again.

Fun game, pleasing aesthetic. Enough juice. Good sounds. Multiple endings. Gotta admire how the trust theme was implemented as a simple memory mechanic.

Somehow I missed this having an HTML build on first visit.

A poker derivative. When I call (bluff) I would have liked to have seen Abe’s hand, he claimed two pair and I had 2 pair, 2 of which were sixes, but I guess he could have had sixes too. It took a while to figure out the controls, then I realised how to click the dice I had, didn’t try bluffing. The tutorial should be split into “call” and “bluff” as I believe the labelling of “call bluff” lead to my initial confusion. They are in fact two distinct actions. For someone unfamiliar with poker, you will be taken round the back and shot.

Good audio, has a beginning, then loops really seamlessly. Impressive and appropriate use of 3D in a web build. Thanks.

Get to the Choppa!

Fun and beautiful game.

I think the submit button may not work, but the enter key definitely does! Thanks, I’ll put a notice somewhere.

To make the archetypes, I reduced the play style to 5 dimensions. I thought each play style would max one of them out. It became a more nuanced and they each have their branches in the decision logic. They played a terrible game putting all their points in one stat. I compromised the purity of their archetypes.

I did some research (googling). I wanted to get the Gambler Achievement in RDR2 and was basing my knowledge of poker off of that! Which was insufficient. I found their black jack table, no more skill needed.

Apologies if I sounded harsh. The art is amazing and worth peoples’ revisiting, if they have time.

Ah, a connoisseur.

Hmm, that tactic used to be much stronger, they would match, blindly, and either you won the round, or went bust, quickly. It’s how I got the high score in the screenshot I didn’t bother replacing.

I fixed it yesterday and tested thoroughly. They don’t always fold, at least not all the archetypes do. You might have got a table that did, I still wasn’t aware of any the “always” fold.

The objective is to beat 4 matches. There’s an indicator in the top left showing match 1/4. Speed running decides the ordering in the leaderboard. A tactic to save you time is leave the table for 10 minutes at the start of every match so the ante goes up.

I consider not announcing the ante increasing more prominently a bug I will be addressing now.

Thanks for playing and reviewing.

Holy cow, the algorithm here is insane. My first two attempts were rushed and I didn’t understand shit. Got 12%, 14%, thought I had it sussed, then I spent the whole 3 minutes and got 54%. In fairness, why would you waste time and paint early on before understanding it. I don’t even think you could buy a full palette.

Needs a fill tool. Ideally an undo, but hey, it does what it does very well.

Personal preference whether you want to invest time repeatedly drawing, but the templates are awesome.

Bit of a time sink. I don’t know if I’ll beat the target of $500, the fourth assignment is 4 minutes, and I wouldn’t want to spend another 15-25 minutes retrying. Finger painting has been done before and we get to play every time we jam; but with transferable tool-skills.

An impressive algorithm, immaculate art, entertaining story, could use more variety (but totally acceptable and expected in a jam entry).

Themed poker. But ok, I’ll bite and check your entry’s incredible original idea.

Very satisfying autonomous agents. I had some extra strawberries on the way, but couldn’t resist supplying my own, the worker buzzed around and after a second a new baby appeared and got fed.

It’s hard, I only lasted to mid Autumn, but I seem to improve each game, so there is a simple skill worth learning there. I tried reading the instructions, but my mind wandered: what about my game’s this or that, what about tomorrow, just let me look this up. After two or 3 hours of godot idling efficiently I just played, and am glad I did.

Lovely seeing all original assets. I noticed the chonky pixels for an instant, but it was all readable, and especially well made, by a team. I doubt myself constantly: Why would all these people set aside time for a jam? I guess they enjoy each others’ company, but who cares, right? Good game.

Thanks. There are dialog lines, but as the objective is deduce the archetype behind the mask, I had to restrain myself from adding too corny, obvious, tells. I can’t say more without spoilers.

Poker has the bluffing element, but archetypes that are prone to bluffing, versus risk-averse human calculators. Here you must decide who is who based on the hands you can see, and the odd line of dialog (it’s in blue above the portrait). Then you must decide if the tells you have read are statistically significant, enough. This is easier in the earlier rounds.

The ultimate boss is your standard computer poker player, giving nothing away. That was the only strategy I expected to see in “other poker games”.

Do all other poker games have archetypes? The idea here is very on-theme.

I could have done more, sure, just didn’t want to dilute the theming.

This game’s landing page is gorgeous. Hard to believe it was done with free assets. Fun game. Couldn’t say how well it fits the theme because I had lots of money but could not find a way to buy more troops to spend it on. In round 5 I was outnumbered and copped it. It should be easier to buy troops. It felt I didn’t have the tools to win.

Eventually I found a pact to lower enemy trust and convert them. Don’t know what happened next match. I think he defected again and I lost, at round 4, 3 against 3. That made it feel too RNG based, but it is fun, and good looking.

Game looked good, but looking around felt bugged. I found WASD to work, but it was chaotic, I attempted to look down at my feet, but I’m not even sure if moving the mouse is the right control to do that because I was not able to. I ended up tumbling into a black oblivion. Which was a pity, as the platforms looked inviting.

These type of games are fun, and on-theme. Let me know if you need somebody to make the web build for you. I crunched mine down from 16 MB to about 9 MB yesterday. All submitted. Just add me on GH, and make sure it plays in “Compatibility” mode.

Fun game, doesn’t even need earbuds, or to wait to play. Did.. I.. lag.. there? Or can we get speed nerfs?

Not sure how well it fits the theme, but don’t let that spoil a good game!

How much of a disadvantage would I be at with only 25 days of this jam?

I just noticed it started in 2020, and it wouldn’t feel right to pollute a pool of works that took 6 years with one that took just a couple of weeks.

Are you just going to extend it (again) in 25 days?

Specifically mouse. You gave “Screen Tap” as an example of one button, but we know that moving the point of touch requires no buttons, and analogues controls, i.e. mouse, don’t use buttons for motion.

Huge difference between 1 button being “the sum of all inputs” and “1 button plus non-button inputs” being accepted.

Foiled by the name entry screen. Bit tough for my liking, but plenty to recommend it.

Thanks. This was the game I needed. It may be dumb luck, or I may be good, but I was just 274 short the first run. I feel once I learn what triggers refills (I think clearing a whole column) it could become easier, but I’m lazy and planning that far ahead is for chess players. I’m sure I’ll beat it next time, I learned a lot, it made me feel special.
