How I built it / process notes
I built Sago Village in Godot using GDScript and low-poly 3D art. I modelled houses and stalls in Blender, then tested the gameplay and interface in desktop and phone-sized views. AI tools assisted with coding, visual iteration and review.

How does your game use the theme?
The trick in Sago Village is finding a smarter way to run the village. Players learn how to turn harvested sago into food, keep the right stalls stocked, use helpers, and plan deliveries around the tide. What begins as a long chain of jobs becomes a smooth workflow as they discover better routes and timing.

Super cool visuals, idea, feeling! Nice job
I bet you will have much more players if guide on the start, just show with line a way to tree, or better place tree close enough to player and show with finger to click on it - thats all.
Good luck!

Thank you, this is really useful! You’re right, the first few seconds don’t show clearly enough where to go. I’ll add a clear pointer to the first tree so new players know what to tap. Appreciate you playing it and the kind words!

Would really appreciate if you can check my game too, maybe you find something interesting! Thanks

Thanks for the examples. I tested a batch delivery and saw the chain bonus. Please add the canoe and batch examples to the submission’s theme answer so players can see how you have interpreted TRICK.

Hi! Could you point to a specific mechanic or moment in Sago Village that uses TRICK, and add it to your theme answer? The current explanation describes general resource management, so the connection is not clear yet. If you made changes for this jam, please mention those too. Thanks.

Thanks for asking! Here are two specific moments:

  1. The tide canoe. The river tide peaks about every 80 seconds. After you’ve served a few customers, a canoe docks at the jetty at high tide with a bigger order and waits about 40 seconds. The trick is to stock the stall before high tide, so you can fill the canoe in time. There is also a daily job for it.

  2. The chain trick. If you drop 3 or more of the same item at one station in one go, you get a bonus that grows with each item (up to +16 at 10).

Changes made during the jam: smaller-window layout for the itch embed, smaller pop-ups, web audio fix, and a map decoration pass. I’ll update my theme answer too.

In Sago Village you learn small tricks that make the work smoother. At high tide a canoe docks at the jetty with a big order, so the trick is to stock the stall before the tide peaks. Dropping three or more of the same item in one go gives a chain bonus. Helpers and good routes turn a long chain of jobs into a smooth flow.
