The falling-sand digging feels great, and the first goal card plus the "Press 2 for the hammer" hint get you moving right away.
One keyboard snag. Ctrl is a building modifier here (hold it to replace while placing, Ctrl+C and drag to move), and you already stop Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C and Ctrl+X from reaching the browser. Ctrl+D, Ctrl+S and Ctrl+R still get through. So if you're holding Ctrl and tap D to walk right, the browser opens its "bookmark this page" box (and the window loses focus, which drops your held keys). Ctrl+S with S to descend opens "Save page as". Ctrl+R opens your Recipes panel and also reloads the tab.
I checked it on the web build in a new normal-mode expedition after skipping the tour: a keydown listener added after yours reports defaultPrevented true for Ctrl+A/C/X and false for Ctrl+D/S/W/R. Walking right with Ctrl held still moves the alchemist, so it's an easy combo to hit. Ctrl+R put the Recipes panel up on screen. My run was headless, so the bookmark and save boxes themselves didn't appear; those are just what desktop browsers do with Ctrl+D and Ctrl+S when a page doesn't block them.
The fix is one more line next to your Ctrl+A one: preventDefault on Ctrl/Cmd + D, S and R while no text field has focus, and skip the R shortcut when Ctrl is down. Ctrl+W (W also jumps) can't be blocked by any page, so it may be worth dropping W as a jump key.
