Very fun idea and I absolutely love the art style.
I do agree though with some other comments saying the focus on the arrows instead of the player. Maybe it would be interesting to explore how to have the arrows closer to the character so we don't miss out on the art.
I was just thinking it was a shame to have the movement instructions in the bottom-right corner, because if you only look there, you miss out on your background—which is really nice! But then I saw that you can change its position in the settings and it's so cool!
Though, it seems I’m not very good at this game xD
Lovely visuals and audio. Pressing the correct buttons as quickly as possible is a simple concept and it definitely got interesting when trying to avoid drowning. My eyes were glued to the arrow keys UI the whole time. I want to look at the swimmer. You may consider moving the UI close to the swimmer.
Can I ask for WASD keys just for some players it's what they try to control characters. It's a bit complex (old gamer) following the arrow keys could it be simpler with a button mashing swimming action left right buttons in rapid seqnece?
Very nice work on the artwork, sprites and idea. A bit more flexibility for the inputs and the games difficulty maybe?
Nice game idea! Just noticed that the arrow is a bit too far from the player. I ended up focusing on the arrow instead of watching the character swim.
Just a suggestion: maybe place the arrow right above the player's head, like it's guiding them to the surface. That way, we can see both the player and the arrow while swimming up.
and, i appreciate it. nowhere near the top (maybe the top score should be purged as impossible unless a mermaid?), but i'll take my proper place on the board.
16.9 secs is my best (any chance for a leaderboard?) :) nice little game and might fit "end of the world is nice" where it's a beautiful place to (have to) ...leave. thanks for sharing!

Fun game, pretty and a little terrifying. Arrows set to above is the way to go ui, glad you had a setting for it. Great job.
very nice pixel art

Please check out my game. Thanks a lot.
very cool game! I really like the rhythm aspect of the game where you have to match the arrows with your own arrow keys! btw I'm third 😁
Thnak you for the positive feedback 😁.
Also thats an amazing time, never got past 13.5 myself XD.
New update to the game: Compatability with WASD as well as arrows keys.
More settings, including bubble positioning.
Thank you guys for the suggestions! :)

The arrow could feel like their guide to survival. Hehe, thanks for playing my game!
The game is now fitted with a leaderboard, as well as a new username system!
