Description
This is a music composed for the "Precision OST Jam #2" hosted by JacoRen. As I struggled finding ideas, I aimed for level 3 which are :
- Music for a minigame in a video game ;
- The music must be mischievous (feel free to interpret this however you like…) and energetic ;
- The music must feature a free-reed instrument, such as an accordion or harmonica.
The fictional game is an action-oriented game in pixel art that takes place in an imaginary world, centered around the space theme.
1 : The minigame would be a sort of tower defense where the player has to defend a crystal at the center of the map against incoming enemies.
2 : I wanted to have an upbeat energetic music, especially with the instruments in 8-bit like the piano, the flute and the guitar. There's a melody that repeats itself during the crescendo and the climax part.
3 : The harmonica is on the left ear that adds variations in the third part of the music so each measures have a unique trait.
It was kinda hard to compose for this jam as I had no inspiration (I deleted and started again a music around 5 times...). I'm proud of the bass line, I wanted to improve myself on this as I love to listen the bass lines when I listen to rock or disco music. This music has one thing that I really love to do, it's having a melody that can loop itself and can meddle with other melodies that can loop themselves (like the flute, the piano, the harmonica and the violins playing together, which gives me a non-empty feeling, where everything is filled).

Interesting choice of input method! Writing on a staff really forces you to be deliberate with all your musical choices (as opposed to a loop based approach like in ableton), and it really does translate into a higher quality composition! Great job, and and is it Musescore you're using? I'm surprised how good it sounds!
Thanks ! Yeah, I'm using Musescore 4.6 (not the latest version, because I prefer the 4.6 version), the soundfonts used are made by MuseHub and they are free on Musescore, that's why I'm using it. I've always preferred writing scores than doing on Ableton or FL Studio... as you said, we really have to think about each measures, each bar... I'm still working a "final final" version of this song so I could use it for a future game !
The beginning has a nice buildup and the synth sounds are nicely chosen - I'd say, I have a pretty decent idea what the game is supposed to feel like.
I may be a little sensitive there, but your central high melody line feels a little repetitive as-is - I think it might have been interesting to have that drop down an octave or two and be played by different instruments in different parts of your piece.
And the fact that I couldn't find much to gripe about should tell you everything about how cool your piece actually is. Great job.
Thank for your feedback, I didn't know what to do so I did a loop in the third part of the music with some variations with the harmonica. But I want to do a part to break from the repetitive melody then comes back to it. I'll try to do this (as I want to use this music for a future game) !

The strings on this are really nice!
Thank you !
