Hi, I purchased the game today. The public version runs correctly on my PC, but the paid version 0.8.6.1 crashes immediately with the error "Failed to load il2cpp". I downloaded and extracted the files several times, but the issue persists.

I just checked the build again: the codebase and the delivery are the same between the demo and the full version. Let’s try to rule out a few things, maybe something will help.

  1. Is there a file called GameAssembly.dll in the game folder? Antivirus software can sometimes delete it, because I don’t have an official certificate that antiviruses like for signing my code, and that leads to an error.
  2. Are there any characters other than Latin letters in the path to the game folder? Try naming the folder itself simply Magic Academy, and make sure the entire path contains ONLY Latin letters.
  3. Are you trying to run the game from an archive? The .zip file you download is an archive. You need to extract it first by right-clicking the file itself, and then run the game from the resulting folder.
  4. The path to the launch file may be too long, and you end up with something like Downloads\Magic-Academy-0.8.6.1-win\Magic-Academy-0.8.6.1-win\Magic Academy_Data\il2cpp_data\Metadata\global-metadata.dat. Try placing the game folder closer to the root of the drive, for example c:\HiddenGames\MagicAcademy

Let me know once you’ve tried everything, and I’ll do my best to help.

Hi,

Thank you for your help! The game is working now. I followed your advice and renamed the folder to a simpler name: MagicAcademy. After doing that, the game launched correctly without any errors. Thank you for taking the time to help me troubleshoot the issue. I really appreciate it.

No problem! I’m glad the issue got sorted out!
