cool game sad I missed this during rating!

Spooky game. I lost the first time when I used the camera too much and had no way of defending myself. I managed to get it the second time, which I did at the 12:07 mark of this video.

that was clutch gaming + scary experience. blended styles together nicely!

I enjoyed the platforming enough that I forgot about the sleepwalker on my first play through and got jump scared by it lol. My main complaint is that having no way to charge the flash battery was frustrating. I feel like I was playing the platform well enough but then I ran out of battery and died with no idea how many more levels there were. It was fun and spooky overall, though. Great entry!

I didn't get a chance to read all the controls 'cause I was REALLY confused by what "hover the arrows" meant. I figured out a few minutes in that there were arrows at the edge of the screen! I also didn't realize my mouse is what controlled the flash, but again I missed the controls, so that's on me. A way to pause and double-check the controls would be nice. Were there 2 different monsters that tried to attack you? I saw the sleepwalker but then there seemed to be another one behind him.

There is only one. However, there is an animation whenever he moves where he shrinks and reappears somewhere else. I did my best to make it visible but in some instances it can be confusing.

His design is neat and the atmosphere was super spooky! Also, I LOVE your logo

i kept hearing the sleepwalker grunt next to me but it took me an embarrassingly long time to realize he was standing right there haha, actually gave me a spook when i looked over. I think the jump minigame you're playing could have used some polish but it was still pretty good. cool game!

Cool game, I really enjoyed it! I couldn't always scare the monster away with the flash though, or maybe I just didn't quite figure out how to do it properly.

Developer

You can only scare them when their eyes are open. But if you do at the last possible second it tends not to work.

Simple but effective. This builds tension really well. The camera essentially acting as a timer makes it really stressful whenever you mess up in the platformer. Keeping the sleepwalker at bay is really simple but the constant choice of how you need to split your attention is engaging.

I beat the game on my second attempt after running out of flashes which was pretty intense. On my first attempt  I ran out of flashes and I was on the first level with the dark background so I figured it wasn't the last level and checked out of the game before the jump scare I knew was coming.

But other than that one small moment this was really well done and I enjoyed this a lot,

That jump scare got me. I didn't know you could control the camera! The art is beautiful and the story was relateable. I don't think I managed to scare the monster away by the flash in both my runs. Either I'm slow or the flash mechanic doesn't work.

Developer

The flash only works when they open their eyes. And you actually get two chances to flash them before they get you.

Trying to flash them at the last possible second doesn’t usually work.

I like the screen-bending effect when you pan around, reminiscent of FNAF. Very neat little game, having to control both the camera and the character in the arcade makes for a fun brain-scratcher

Probably the least expected jump scare I've experienced this jam. I was mindlessly playing the jump quest game and had completely forgotten i was in a horror game lol

This was cool! A very unique concept of blending 2D and 3D. I like the idea of trying to play two games at once. It had me stressed about when the monster would show up. That jumpscare really got me too!

It took me a while to work out I could double jump so I got stuck on the first level for a bit. I'd mention it in the controls of the jam page so people know. Other than that, great work!

The jumpscare got me as well and I developed it 🤣. Good point about the jump though, I really should have mentioned it.
