I actually legitimately loved this style - reminds me of FFXII and dot hack sign on PS2
Definitely an ambitious project! The game itself is pretty nice, and I really liked the visuals and audio. However, I found the combat mechanics a bit frustrating, especially when attacking or using skills. The controls and overall gameplay feel could use some polishing, and the on-screen text is often too blurry and hard to read. Overall, I enjoyed it and I think there's a lot of potential here, but it still feels a bit rough around the edges. Nice work, and congrats on the project!
Amazing - I'm so impressed that you used AI to make a PS2 era JRPG. The opening scene hooked me in and the battles were fun to play. It reminds me of older action jrpgs like Infinite Undiscovery. Keep it up!
Heads-up on one keyboard thing before people get deep into Chapter One. I haven't played it yet, so this comes from reading your input map in project.binary, not from a crash I hit.
Guard is bound to Ctrl (hybrid_guard, physical Ctrl) and move_forward is W. On Windows and Linux, Chrome and Firefox reserve Ctrl+W for "close tab" and never pass it to the page, so preventDefault can't stop it. A player holding guard who presses W to step in will close the tab, and the whole download with it. Ctrl+Tab (guard + lock target) is reserved the same way and jumps to the next browser tab. Ctrl+Shift+W (guard + run + forward) closes the whole window. Fullscreen alone doesn't help; only navigator.keyboard.lock() inside fullscreen gets those keys in Chromium, and Firefox/Safari don't have it.
The simplest fix is moving guard off Ctrl (C, F, or a mouse side button), or making Ctrl a toggle so it isn't held while you press W. I didn't see a key rebinding screen in the files, so players can't work around it themselves.
Ambitious entry for a browser jam: voiced dialogue, a three-person party and physical object handling. I'll come back with real play notes once it's loaded.
