I don’t usually play puzzle games, so please keep that in mind. However, I wanted to try this one because the magnet mechanic looked interesting. Here are some stream-of-consciousness notes I took during a short playthrough:

  • Didn’t read "How to Play" before I started. Probably should have.
  • I like the graphics, but I wasn’t sure I understood the hats. Are they mechanically relevant, or just something to give the game personality? (This got answered as the game went on.)
  • Playing with the mouse: I don’t like having to drag the faces when there’s only one possible direction. Would rather just click and have them move.
  • I love the nested levels and smooth animations between them. Would be nice to have some sort of map, though. It’s easy to lose track of where I am within the hierarchy, even if (as far as I could tell) it doesn’t really matter.
  • The hint system is perfect. Gives you just as much help as you want.
  • The menu bar at the top (Esc, R, Z, P, H) takes up way more room than it needs to, IMO.
  • The magnet system is really cool. I love how it expands to reveal more of the level and retracts to hide it, and how this becomes part of the puzzle itself.
  • The fan-looking thing was initially confusing. I didn’t notice at first how switching a seemingly unrelated tile was affecting the fan tile.
  • In the level "4 - The Final Twist," I solved it pretty quickly, but wasn’t entirely sure what problem I had solved.
  • Some animations are a little too long for someone like me who just wants to get in and start puzzling.
  • Solving the levels is very satisfying.
  • Good, simple sound effects. Personally, I wouldn’t mind a little background music.
  • I definitely would have kept playing if I’d had more time to spare.

Nice work overall, and I hope some of this feedback is helpful!

Thank you so much. I'm going to use a lot of your input.

Specifically:

- I wrote for phone first, so I can see how those buttons can be excessive on web on PC, where almost all the itch play takes place. I can definitely resize.

- I never considered input to remove the need to drag when there is only one possible move. Mind blown! I'm curious how often that takes place as the game widens its lens to different kinds of boards, and if it's often enough to use as a feature. I really hope so. I like UX friendliness.

- Skipping animations. There is generally a skip button. But I'll make all input activate it.

- Background music. I know, I know. And I don't know the first thing about how to generate or find it. :-(

- I haven't heard before that the fan is confusing. Do you think it's possible I run that animation too quickly?

I'm glad you liked the magnet system. Feel free to come back any time if you want to play more than you did. Mastering the magnet system is essential for navigating the magnet board.

If you want to leave a public comment or rate, it would also be appreciated.
