Playing as the monster under the bed is a great twist, and the opening bedroom with the sleeping boy, the pumpkin and the ANNOYED meter made the goal clear right away. The cute purple monster and the house art carry the humor well. My constructive note is that moving with short taps felt slow in this browser, so a slightly faster walk speed would help when sneaking to the kitchen.
Man, this game is the perfect example of something I didn't expect to see in this game jam and I mean that in a good way. The level design is solid and well-balanced with the mechanics, itβs genuinely difficult *not* to end up destroying a good chunk of the environment when enemies are nearby really cool stuff.
Thanks you ! Yeah the idea of being careful about the house while fighting the ennemies sounded fun so we gave it a go, happy you liked it !
Balancing everything was a big concern but I guess it ended up good enough for a game jam. Even though we made it a little bit easier in the balance phase, I'm still worried it's a little bit hard for some players ^^
Aaaw! A game about a cute little boogins!
I liked the balance between "I want firepower" and "I don't want too mess up the house" (although in the last level I just massacred the whole house by accident). The upgrade mechanics were cool, but it would be even cooler if the upgrades had more impact on the gameplay (the shotgun is a good example of this) instead of just making you faster/ tougher.
Graphics worked fine. Sound worked great. I can't put my finger on it, but it just fit the gameplay completely.
As for the theme- I liked the twist that the thing coming out at night is the player (it's just the 5th game I played in this jam, so it might be that there's gonna be 20 games that do this, but yours is first, so it counts :))
One more thing. I like that the roomba returned. Now that it's featured in two games in the row I expect it as a recuring character :)
Haha thanks for playing !
Yes it was challenging to find fun, unique and satisfying upgrade mechanisms, knowing that more unique stuff also means more time to be brainstormed, implemented, tested and balanced. In the end i really love the chaos build and the demonic build, I think they are the funniest to me. The other would have deserved maybe more unique effects that make them fun in their own way, but I'm still very happy with the result :D
The game was realy good and fun to play. The Charakter is super funny and cute and the music hit's realy godd.
Thank you ! Glad you liked the character, that was one of our first game idea (the "monster under the bed", which fitted the theme very well) and we had a lot of fun to brainstorm around that initial idea
