I ended up playing this for quite a while. The basic loop of pouncing on people, scaring them into dropping candy, and collecting enough to clear the round worked really well for me.
I liked how the light hazards affected that loop. Between people moving around with flashlights and the fixed streetlights and jack-o’-lanterns, there was plenty to pay attention to while going after candy. The heat building up when you’re exposed gives you a reason to keep moving and find your way back into the shadows.
The different layouts and NPC paths helped give the rounds some variety. I also liked the choice of three upgrades between rounds. That added a roguelite feel and gave me something to look forward to after reaching the candy target.
I played with a controller, and that experience was really smooth. The controls worked comfortably, and I didn’t encounter any bugs, errors, or slowdowns during my session. It felt well put together.
The art style was another strong point for me, and the audio worked well throughout. Scaring people out of their Halloween candy while trying to stay out of the light is a fun premise, and the game makes good use of it.
Nice game overall!
Couple minor nits:
- The audio defaulted to pretty loud
- The jumping often put me in the light when I didn't expect it - a little more precise control on the jump would be nice
Really wonderful and impressively interesting! It's hard to believe this was made in just a few days given how polished it is! The art and sound design are truly impressive—absolutely outstanding work!
Playing as the purple creature on Maple Lane felt fun right away, with 9 candy to grab before 10 PM and a pounce that sent a kid flying with an EEK. Learning that pouncing only works on kids in the dark made the night rule feel real. My constructive note is that the dark only pounce rule took me a few tries to spot, so a slightly earlier hint in the level would help first time players.
I love the trick-or-treat concept, and the sound effects are great! I got stuck right at the beginning after clicking past the instructions too quickly. A way to reopen them or a small reminder of what to do next would really help.
Fun gameplay and easy to pick up. Very clean and juicy effect, although a few mistake look a bit weird and could be fixed easily (the text of the gifts, the sprite of the witch). I think it has a very heavy vibecoded AI game feel and if I'm not wrong you probably need to disclose the use of AI art.
cute game, I like the retro sprites and the theme music.
stealing candy from children what a delight. It was a fun little game.
thanks
