Thank you! I'd say about 75% of this code is default RPG Maker, including all of the artwork. All of the text in the game is mine. I learned how to event/code a few interesting things like a day & night system, the emails using inventory items, and trying to make a basic interesting battle based on energy and effort (attacking costs energy, you can sacrifice energy to create effort, etc.) and that was fun, but I definitely needed more time to test and balance it, as it's completely broken and easily exploited.
If I had more time, I would have loved to implement a better "read / unread" email system - I think I would just have to convert each item each time it's used, but also that's half the fun of RPG Maker. You can break the system to do all kinds of unintended things. There are lots of "plugins" that can can accurately simulate email, but I thought it would be fun to try and design a very simple system without any outside coding help. I'm a very newbie programmer, so I want to try and challenge myself versus just using what someone else made. I'm a narrative designer first and foremost so the text/story was the easy part of the game for me. :)
Thanks again for playing! <3

Battle system wasn't very good. I didn't understand it at all:
- What is "Study" option for? - it seems that it only decreases energy and spends a turn
- What is "Effort" for?
- The first battle (with six books) was somewhat challenging - I had to run the first time, but I won the second time, all other battles were super easy win. I bought some food in the store, but I didn't need to use it.
- Speaking of abilities, it seems that you should always just "Demostrate", although when it send that "Interviewer is looking for weaknesses, I also tried to use "Admit" and that killed the interviewer (not sure if other skills would kill as well). Sometimes "Rest" (or how is it called? - the thing to heal energy) was useful just in case, because I was not sure if there would be harder enemies in the next location, so I recharged my energy before defeating the last enemy.
I don't think "unread" email is particularly useful - if it takes time, than it's probably not worth implementing.
Yeah, I could guess from the game you are a narrative designer - it was pretty cool:)
