I really enjoyed ZAR. The comic book art style looks great, the music is pleasant, and the core idea is clear and engaging. It feels a bit like Balatro, but with dice, and there's plenty of room for cool mechanics. I've only beaten the first boss so far, so I definitely haven't seen everything yet, but even at this stage it already feels like a solid, polished alpha. The only thing is that the pacing can feel a bit slow at times when you're rolling and resolving all the dice, but that's also part of the charm. Overall, everything is already at a really good level. Best of luck with development and the Steam release!

I played both the demo and the alpha version. The demo was already simple and easy to pick up, with enjoyable controls, good music, and satisfying feedback. The alpha feels much more developed. The tops and their different effects were already in the demo, but now there are actual characters built around them, more varied opponents, and more mechanics and settings overall. Despite that, the game never feels overloaded. The 3D visuals, character models, and arenas also look much better. I haven't played long enough to judge the progression or meta yet, but overall it left a very positive impression, and it's something that makes me want to keep playing.
The core idea is genuinely intriguing, but the onboarding is rough. The tutorial feels slow at times, and it isn't always clear what the game wants from you. It's hard to tell why creatures are dying or not reproducing. The logs are detailed, but they don't translate into clear, actionable feedback. I also ran into a few UI bugs and a soft lock. Some subtle background music would help a lot, since you're often just waiting. Just to clarify, these impressions are based on the demo, not the full Steam purchase. There's definitely potential here. Streamlining the UX and making the early experience smoother would go a long way
