We had to cut the extra levels in order to make the jam version in time, but the team is interested in continuing development of the game!

For the sake of media preservation, I have created a page that will keep the original jam version uploaded in time for the jam, bugs and all.  It will not be maintained or updated.

It is playable here, note if shared a password is required, it should be in the link, but if missing, the password is: sizejam

Here's our first Update for the game, focusing on bugfixing, balancing, as well as adding content that was finished but did not make it into the game jam version.

Additions:

  • If Defeated, now Velkira hitchhikes home. (She tried to hide it, okay?)
  • If Victorious, Velkira shows off her assets to her subjects.
  • Barn's construction materials made more appropriate.
  • By Queen Velkira's decree, Fullscreen support has been enabled.
  • Turrets are now only placeable in ranges that Velkira can feasibly reach.
  • Moon and Clouds now bear witness to Velkira's visage
  • Concept Art Gallery added, showing artists' depictions of Queen Velkira and her subjects.

Changes

  • Earthlings respond more slowly to invasion, but respond with more force once organized
  • Velkira holds Poses/Expressions more consistently.
  • Passive scrap gather rate reduced.
  • Cameraman disciplined for not keeping Velkira in frame.
  • Earthling spawn closer to screen edge, to avoid long downtime at beginning of game
  • Tanks are now made of more tankier materials
  • Vehicles provide more armor against Tesla fire
  • Turrets are placed in more appropriate positions on their tripod
  • Tesla lightning effect timing adjusted to be less space-magicky.
  • After reports of excessive jiggling, UFO thrusters tuned for smoother rides
  • Textile Mills for country attire have changed dye suppliers
  • Velkira de-stretched on main menu ("I am NOT that wide.... Yet!" she said)
  • Main Menu buttons theme fixed.

I have looked into the game's performance vs Mobile requirements. I'll need to adjust some of the controls to make it work, but it should be feasible. Will try to have it done by end of month.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I didn't want to commit to an answer until I knew what the other devs thought after a bit of a break - but the team is interested in continuing to work on the game!

To follow up on this, I looked into performance and it looks like performance should be fine on Mobile.  I'll need to tweak some of the control's code, but in theory it should work.  I plan on having mobile support done by end of month

Worth noting, I've not really made a game for mobile before, so there may be a few issues

I agree that a smaller size gives more contrast and makes the growth more exciting. For the first patch I've adjusted the queen down a bit in size for the first patch but its about as small as I can make her without breaking game mechanics - as her hands would be hilariously small if we made her too tiny, she's actually supposed to be placing the turrets down too!

We're abstracting a bit that she absorbed the size of the people on the farm before the reigns were handed over to the player.

This game visually looks interesting, I hope you keep working on it :)

I'm not sure how feasible it is, would likely require a big rework of how we did Velkira, as well as the skill system, to add it.  In her ending screen (currently bugged to not show) she does have a slight bit more weight to her, but its subtle.

I mistook the voting period as lasting 1 week, it actually lasts longer than that.  Patch will be this Friday, not Monday.  Apologies for the mistake on my part!

She will be a bit more involved, the turret placement is supposed to be her placing the turrets,  the art assets for it finished, I just did not finish implementing it in time.  Overall, the resonance mechanic is the big gameplay reason as to why we don't have the GTS just rampage through the map, as she's there to make herself bigger.  We also had messed around with the idea of having her grab enemies directly instead of relying on UFOs, I may experiment with that too.

As for a Patreon, I have one here: https://www.patreon.com/c/CrypticExpansion
There is not much there at the moment, but I would like to do NSFW gamedev full time if funding permits! :)

I did not, but I am aware of it. Defeat screen art was finished just right before the jam, and I did not have time to implement the scene before it ended.  It will be in the post-jam version :)

No, more persons collected is ultimately more growth, just the growth rate itself is linear - if she grows by 10 points or 30 points total - her growth rate is just the same, but the target is different.

Appreciate it! Age of War was actually a game we had referenced in early concepting of the game. I didn't finish it in time, but a concept art gallery will be added to the game, and you'll see it! :P We wanted to do a lot of throwback to the older flash genre, vs how tower defense is done more today.

Team poured their heart into the project, letting everyone rest up a bit, and we'll see if people are interested in continuing with more major content.  Additionally, I have an unannounced breast expansion game I've been working on as well!

At the very least there will be some patches to fix bugs, balance, a Concept Art gallery - as well as any content that the art assets were done for but I did not implement in time.  One of those assets is another turret, I just need to finish the VFX for it.

We did have plans for more content, but it was cut during the jam to meet the deadline.  The team put some heavy work into the game over the last month, so letting everyone rest up a bit, and then see if they'd like to continue it!

Thanks! We wanted to sell the fantasy that as she got bigger the player became more powerful.

I'm really glad you enjoyed it! I know we took a bit of a risk by going against the grain on the GTS's personality, but we felt she would be a more engaging and memorable character! Mocha will be thrilled to know it landed well!

Gameplay balancing was a bit back and forth and definitely ended a bit off.  Some turrets didn't make it in time, and upgrades were done last minute, so both of those affected balance.  I didn't want to make the game *tooo* hard since its NSFW so some players may be 'distracted', plus to sell the fantasy that as you got bigger you became more powerful, I think I just overdid the scaling a bit!

The VAs will love to hear that! It was so fun working with them!

More turret variety was planned, we had to cut them to fit in time for the jam, but I plan on re-adding them, and I definitely need to tweak the camera some

Sure, go ahead! In the main game page I put a link to all of the team's socials if they provided any! Please make sure they are recognized, as without them this game would not have been possible :)

I'd like to play more with the upgrade system, it was very last-minute addition to the game.
I'm unsure if there would be more size stages, at the very least the tree will be a bit more interesting than it is currently.

I can't upload files till after the jam voting period, but I'd like to support more platforms and allow a downloadable version.   I do not know how well it would run on mobile, but it is something I will consider

Fullscreen is planned. I need to figure out how to make it so when you use fullscreen on Itch, that the game detects that and adjusts the resolution accordingly.
Extra resonance (and scrap) is normal at the moment, I need to give the player more things to spend both on!

EDIT: I have figured out fullscreen working correctly in my test build, it will be in the next patch.

Upgrade ambiguity is a symptom of me getting that feature done so late in the jam. The original plan was to have upgrades build up to growth, or specific upgrades would do it - and I'd like to play with upgrades more.  Additionally size was originally supposed to be tied to upgrades! I had put the grow on abduction as a test and it just played really well so we kept it!

I do need to play with growth rates more. Right now she grows the same rate regardless of size absorbed, but I'd like to change it to vary a bit, will help a bit with her growth at the end, plus little growth spurts and variance can be more exciting!

The hand slam is intended to kill, the Advisor and Queen Velkira herself both comment on it.  Its what narratively fits as to why the GTS isn't just smooshing everything instead of using her smol little tower.  Plus, I know not every player may be into aggressive GTS so don't want them to feel they are missing out if they choose not to use it. However, there's definitely some room to adjust the attack, and I'll see what I can do about making it feel better!

I do plan on tweaking the camera a bit more for that. There is a limit to how far I can go before we hit world edge, but I think I can squeeze a little bit more out of it :)

    It is planned :)
I was doing web builds a lot because it was easier to test with, and I didn't have time to make downloadable builds before the jam period.
I can't upload files until the end of the jam period, but I will make sure eventually there will be a downloadable version for Windows and Linux.

Edit: Please direct further bug reports/feedback here.

    Known Issues:
Butt has small gap on it, notable when clicking.
Some render order issues with enemies and turrets.
Some circumstances allow GTS to talk over herself

The game is built in Unity so unfortunately I don't think Joiplay will work with it.  However, Unity does natively allow for exporting to Android.

When I make a '1.0' release I'll investigate if making an Android version is possible without recoding the game

I'm working on an update right now, I've never built a Mac build in Unity nor do I have a machine to test it on but I will research it to see if I can :)
