Viraen 0.2a is a project I consider finished (the prototype, not the game itself). The project was created to experiment with an idea I'd had for a long time and couldn't shake. This idea changed over time. Initially, the idea was to create a mobile game where the game world was in your hands and the gravity of that world was influenced by the real world (i.e., you would control the game's gravity with the accelerometer). I never managed to make anything truly fun with that idea. In the current project, I ended up abandoning the accelerometer idea and tried to create something I'd always wanted to do: a Metroidvania, but with a bit of the gravity idea, only now it's more of a screen rotation mechanic. You don't exactly influence the gravity of the game world; it simply works differently from ours. It's a strange little world :)

Since I've had this idea in my head for so long... maybe it's only fun in my head. I would really appreciate your honest opinion. Would anyone like to see Viraen become a real game? With a better-designed world (level design, size, variety... everything that doesn't exist in the prototype).

Hello!

After years of learning, experimenting, and starting over countless times, I’m happy to finally share the first public alpha prototype of Viraen.

The original idea dates back to 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, when I started learning Godot and Blender. Over the years, the project changed many times. At first, it was meant to be a mobile game, this explains the concept of screen rotation, which originally used the accelerometer. However, I never managed to make something that felt truly fun.

Eventually, I combined that idea with another dream of mine: creating a metroidvania. That’s when I finally found a direction that felt right.

This early version contains only a small world to explore, three enemy types, and one boss, but I hope you enjoy this little glimpse into the world of Viraen.

Suggestions, bug reports, and feedback are always welcome!
