Substrata: The First Layer — Grim Subterranean Survival RPG

"They say the world above burned away generations ago, but nobody down here has ever seen the sky. In the endless dark of the tunnels, the rails are the only map—and when the train's lamps die, something in the rock begins to move."

Hey everyone! I just released Substrata: The First Layer, my very first indie game. It's an atmospheric survival RPG blending locomotive and resource management, real-time scavenging expeditions, turn-based tactical combat, and choice-driven visual novel narrative encounters inside an expansive underground megastructure.

Key Features

  • Locomotive Management: Keep your train alive by routing power, managing fuel and food reserves, and crafting emergency field supplies in the workshop.
  • Scavenging Expeditions: Send your crew on foot into dark, dangerous tunnel sectors to haul back critical salvage.
  • Tactical Turn-Based Combat: Position your crew and manage focus fire against aggressive subterranean horrors.
  • Narrative Memoirs: Uncover the lost history of the world above through immersive story encounters and distinct crew backstories (Kade, Nyx, Riven, and Orrin).

This is our v0.1.0 early public release, featuring Chapter 1's prologue and core survival loops. Since it's a brand new release, I’d love to hear any thoughts, feedback, or bug reports you encounter!

  • Hey everyone! I recently published my very first game on itch.io, but I noticed it's completely missing from public search and category listings, even though the direct link works fine.

For context, I’ve already verified the basic requirements:

    • The visibility is set strictly to Public (not unlisted).
    • A proper cover image and playable/downloadable game files have been uploaded.
    • It's a completely brand-new creator account.

I’ve read that new accounts or first-time releases often land in a manual or automated review queue to prevent spam. For those of you who have been through your first launch here, roughly how long did it take for your game to pass through the filter and finally get indexed into the search directory?

Is there anything else I should check on the dashboard, or is it just a matter of waiting it out? Appreciate any insights!
