Very cool little mystery game. It was a bit small, but not necessarily a bad thing since it makes the playthrough time relatively short. I love how unique this game is compared to the rest. It really stands out amongst the crowds as being much more suspenseful and intriguing. Overall, very nice job :)
You clearly put a lot of effort in the player's decision making process and made the game very well balanced :) In such a short amount of time, you guys came up with such a cool concept and it would be so perfect if it had more polished visuals (They are still good especially considering the fact that you are a solo dev). I love how you came up with so many mechanics and made the game have a diverse array of different interactions :)
This game looks so beautiful! I love this very mechanical-type theme and absolutely was the highlight of your game! It was slightly difficult to pick up, but after I do, the gameplay is entertaining and rewarding. Your team was clearly consisted of multiple talented people, it really shows in the sheer details and polish of this game! Great job :)
This is game is so good and polished! Love the art, love the diverse gameplay mixed in with the puzzle-like aspects :) I really enjoyed playing through and the instructions are really clear about what to do without giving away the solution. This is one of the best games I have played in the jam related to bombs!
Thank you for your comprehensive feedback.
The hint is meant to be kinda like those video game loading screen tips? It's not supposed to be super useful, but ig guide the player through the gameplay. Good to keep note of that though.
- and yes, I try to design levels where one counter has multiple uses and I wanted a sort of thing where some counters can only be swapped with another group of counters and another counter can be swapped with a different group by encorporating counters of different colors to try to make the game more challenging. Didn't have enough time in the end and ultimately wasn't able to balance a lot of the levels and make them exactly to how I envisioned it.
Your comments are very helpful and meaningful. Thankyou for taking your time to play my game and leave feedback! I hope that, overlooking these areas to improve upon, you still enjoyed the game overall and had a fun time completing the puzzle :)
This game is one of the best horror games in this jam. You nailed the atmosphere and creepy vibes! Please ditch that horrid font in the beginning though as it is unreadable. Also I can walk through the wall and go outside the map at one point. Those are the only picky things I found during my playthrough though, The actuall game itself is really fun, and this is a very strong game with amazing visuals and playability :)
Thank you so much for this comment! I sure wish I had a genius brain haha, sometimes ideas can just pop into your head when you are doing something completely random! I was fortunate enough to have such moment during the game jam. You made a very strong game as well, and more traditional games like yours is definetly not a bad thing! You still made your own game yours and that's what matters :)
Great job building your own game engine! The narrative was good, and I loved the little rpg-like style! The pixel art was a very great attempt at making the game kinda retro-y, but I would suggest picking more colors as sometimes they blend together and make different things hard to distinguish from one another. Personally, I think that the 'theme fit' that the comment section mentioned doesn't matter too much as it was stated that loosely fitting games are ok in this jam, which clearly is what this game is! Very well done :)
One of the most interesting takes on the countdown theme, this puzzle was very creative and well-designed. I love how unique it is compared to most other games in the jam! The level difficulty progression is quite well balanced, and the puzzle pieces are just intuitive. It is very impressive how you can create such a complex system with only a few elements!
This was just so cute and the art was so silly and well-made :) I love that the game feels progressively more urgent and tense and each little item has their own thing and it feels super fun. Unfortunately, the game was a bit laggy for me and the gameplay experience can be rough at times, but that didn't affect how fun this was!
I underestimated the difficulty which was a big mistake. This was one of the funnest puzzle games I have played thus far. I suggest revising the pixel art a bit. The enviornment and player looks great if you want to keep that theme, but the enemies and the extra steps booster don't really fit the theme super well, the booster text does also look a bit wonky since the font is a bit different and pixel sizes don't match. Of course, when it comes to the star of the show, the gameplay, there is absolutely nothing to say about the level design other than it was clearly made with thought and polished. Each level is unique and very well executed, as well as being moderately challenging and requiring the player to put in some thought and not able to complete them in one go everytime. Very well done!
This was a very basic but fun game! I loved the asset choices and the satisfying mouth animations :) I suggest looking more into the hitboxes and the layers of each character as sometimes I could pick up the character behind another one though it wasn't intended. I love the urgent and exciting feeling throughout the game and the progressive scaling does make it challenging but an overall smooth experience. Overall, I didn't expect this to turn out so fun :)
