Hi there,
I'm curious about this Jam but I have no experience with the specific tooling listed. Am I allowed to use a conventional game engine or graphics library for a submission?

For example, I could use Godot and put a plain text input box and submit button at the bottom with plain text at the top. I would use the engine's default UI styling choices and none of its graphical featuresoutside of text formatting and that mentioned. Another similar approach I had in mind is to use the raylib library and similarly draw a plain text box and submit button and program the text formatting and everything else by hand.

I'm not fussed on the exact details, my preference here is to use what I am familiar with and make it fit with within the rules given.

Would this category of submission have potential to be accepted? If so, are there any other explicit criteria I should be aware of that pertain to my unusual case?

Thank you for your time.

I'd like to try it out but I'm unfortunately not on a windows computer

Cute game. The space to dash keybinding was a bit confusing, I kept miss-pressing it to jump by habit. I liked the goofy hair animation when she drops down

Well done. Most people don't have it in them

Woah this is awesome :D. Best of luck with your compiler dev

1. Blinking is a bug yeah. See point 3.

2. Hmm maybe the colour palette is too much for a calm game? You're not the first person to mention it.

3. I ran out of time to fix some serious bugs and complete the movement logic. I started the game jam a day or two late for personal reasons, so I was playing catch-up from the start.

I rushed out a hacky solution to a lot of things and I'm now inundated with technical dept. It turns out iterating on hexagons with a moving window in 6 directions in 2 dimensions in C is as about as hard as it sounds x3. I've never done it before so I didn't know.

I have my friend to thank for pushing my out of my comfort zone with this one. I've definitely learnt a lot and I got something out it that is solid for what it is.

4. Thank you for giving my game the benefit of the doubt, it's really nice to hear. If I have time, I'll put out some patches to fix some of these issues in future.

Ayy you finished it :D

Oh yeah, also I'd like to see your source code to compare implementation approaches, let me know if you're comfortable with that. I personally have my code spaghetti linked on my game page.

My submission was a similar idea and we took completely different takes on it. I really like the extra tweaks in your one. Merging neighboring triplets  feels more unique and fitting of the "hex" theme. It was rewarding to figure that out :3

Oooo it took me a while to work out the controls - scrolling out changes everything. Tbh I feel a bit lost in this one without any extrinsic motivating factor, for example it doesn't seem to matter if my crew runs out of food, and the food I do have doesn't tick down. It doesn't feel like the game world is responding to my choices, y'know?

Hope this helps

There's something interesting going on there, but it's not very fleshed out. It's hard to tell what's going on and what I'm supposed to be doing. Everything happens so fast at the start, and there's no audio/visual queues for important things like dieing. For a first try it's not bad :3

I like the concept but the pacing was much too slow for me. I clicked "talk" on the first random encounter, and then realized I should have done shop instead. I got bored by the time the 2nd opportunity came up

I was a little disappointed to find out there is nothing to stop me spamming left click while spinning in circles. That nit aside, it was fun :3

Woah this was interesting

Thank you, this is really useful feedback.

Did it feel like something in particular was missing? Or perhaps it felt like missing polish?

It would be great to hear more

I hope you can make a linux or web port of this game because I couldn't try it out today :(

This genre isn't my cup of tea, but I love what you did with it

I like the concept but the execution is a bit rough around the edges. The starting speed of the game progression was the sticking point for me. My friend didn't like the high pitched noise. Thanks for making

Ah my bad, I read the instructions now!

Is this supposed to be unwin-able? I mean it's funny as-is, but I'm double-checking I've not missed something important. Is there any keybindings or tips I should know? Thanks
