How to make it work on Linux:
Force Proton compatibility and let Steam update the game(it changes to the windows version)

Then use

WINEDLLOVERRIDES="version=n,b" %command% -force-d3d11

That works for melonloader mods

idk from what i've seen, the mod on github is from a different person(WindsoFur and fpga). It works on a different principle too. It was made around the same time and last major update was yesterday(minor fixes 17 hours ago). No mention of this itch io page there. Only their own Kofi, started on version 0.1 and not 0.6 like yours. It's also open source.
Someone mentioned this itch mod in their thread in a discord server

Is this mod somehow connected with DnWVR on Github? Or is it just the same type of project?

The mod downloads without folder structuring for me. It instead has the directories in the name of the files. Crashes on the Linux version, but I should be able to run it if I install the Windows version.

edit: If you want a laugh, try setting the color to black(or the darkest it lets you) and replace the sounds with straight piped 1.9tdi. Works better if you disable gurgles

edit: folder structuring problem solved. The zip file is created with a super old version of a zipping program, so it uses the old way of creating directories. Extracts fine with a terminal instead of Ark
