Indie game developers: what do you use when you need to create a simple 3D asset?

I'm building WAZO3D, a browser-based 3D modelling tool for people who need to create things without becoming professional 3D artists.

WAZO combines the simplicity of SketchUp with the features you wish Blender had.

Need a crate, building, piece of furniture, sci-fi panel, environment prop, or some strange object you came up with for your game?

That's what WAZO3D is being built for.

The WAZO3D Early Community is now open.

Anyone can join. Sign up on the website to become a WAZO tester. By using WAZO, testing new features, reporting bugs, sharing ideas and helping other community members, you can earn Test Creds.

Test Creds will unlock a lifelong discount on the Wazo Power version.

You won't just be testing a product. You'll be helping shape it and earning rewards for being part of the early community.

If you're an indie developer, I'd love to know:

What would you want a simple 3D modelling tool to do that Blender doesn't make easy?

WAZO3D. Make something awesome.

Yesterday I had a talk with my personal trainer, she had signed a deal with a small company that will do all marketing efforts and guarantees a minimal number of clients for a fixed fee. I immediately new that that would be something I would like too.

Are there companies that help indy developers promote their games for either a fixed amount or a share of the income?

I hate the idea of taking time off from development to create promotional content and market my stuff. I do not like social media, I quit Twitter and Facebook and Instagram is not for me. I only like Youtube... So it would be worth something to me to have someone promoting my game.

Does anyone of you have experiences using such services?

Hi,

I am working on a game about an amateur soccer team who want to win the Champions League. They may not have the technical, athletic or financial abilities to accomplish this, but what they lack in skill they will make up in enthusiasm, hard work and foul play. You can be their coach, helping them winning matches.

The game will have a number of modes you can play in:

  1. Single game mode: play against an AI controlled team.
  2. Couch mode: play with two players on a single screen - a big TV screen is fun.
  3. Online Single game: select your players and play against an other player you meet on the BeerLeague server.
  4. Online Competition: select a team with whom you will go on get that cup with the big ears.

In the campaign mode you are not only playing matches, you will also manage your team. There are guest players who claim they are famous pro's who may join your team for one match and referees hold grudges that may last the entire competition if you cross them.

You can design your own pitch where your team plays it's home matches, and you can even import and field your own characters.

The matches play more like an RTS than like a regular soccer game, and I am still trying to find out how the game mechanics work best. To get some feedback, I will be publishing a first play test soon.

I am also open for any suggestions on more foul play and other means to win games when skills are not enough.
