I wrote about the game up on Medium. https://medium.com/@x_48243/game-jamming-and-the-industrial-revolution-3fc897b11082

One more note, if you didn’t make it to the boss, press 9 that will warp you to the scene.

It’s free to play and open source. I do have an optional donate set up on Itch, which is a default sort of thing.

Such a great idea, I really enjoyed drawing the pieces, only took a few turns to ‘get it’. Also nice move going for a vertical game window.

I really enjoyed playing. The art and color-scheme are so good, and I really enjoyed the game dynamic of the red blocks that give you the jump boost. Sound effects and the sound are spot on. Also I appreciate the hint of pressing e/x when you’re near the giant caterpillar/machine/entity. First time with Godot? How did you like the experience?

Thank you so much! I love the game jam format that is pedal to the metal, and going with what you have even if not polished yet (which is what happened for me). I set it so the player has 1 hp in the main stage (like a little Mario), and then 10 or so when battling the boss, because being hit by a laser is part of the whole scene.

Thank you for playing through. As soon as the jam is over I’ll publish all those hitbox fixes. I basically finished the art and then had 12 hours left in the jam to do the coding part.

I wish the snake could crash into itself. Unique concept for a game, I have never been a coffee bean before.

I like the Blaster Master vibes of being able to leave your vehicle. I was bracing for the little person to take damage when the alien machine monster hit them, but seems like nothing happened. Apocalypse is…fun!

I really liked the sound, and the super spooky cyber-punk vibes. I didn’t really understand what I was supposed to do, but enjoyed it anyway. The sound is so spot on!

I like the color scheme.

I feel like it isn’t fair that the monster can disregard the maze constraints. Also, did you enter this game into 5 different game jams? Kind of a neat update to Pacman.

Thanks on the art. Experimenting with handmade art and procedural level generation where my two main goals in this jam.

Yes, I’m working on the hitbox and hurtbox fix, stay tuned for the post gamejam update. On attack a new hitbox spawns right in front of the player extending the reach. Also the soldier hitboxes have been tuned.

Thank you so much for playing through, and sharing feedback. I appreciate it!

I love the pixel art aesthetic with the hiker and how when I was about to give up because I couldn’t make it past the wall spikes (very fun use of the platformer classic) I was able to upgrade my arms into robot/machine arms. Nice unexpected twist. I couldn’t make it past the second level even with the next upgrade.

So much fun to play, a joy!

I liked the orc sprites, and the concept. The slow gun rotation was definitely a challenge.

I like the chaos! Are the other players real players that are online at the same time?

Thanks about the art! That is a good tactic for fending off the soldiers.

Thanks for the note about the art! I know about the hitbox issue with the adversaries – that will be my first fix for the revised version after voting.

I like the parallax movement, I really want a way to fight back and a little more nuance with the movement. Fine controls are tough. I ended up running to the right and avoiding bombs for a while. Color scheme is right on and great use of the theme.

Great feeling game, came far, and can push it so much farther. Once I fell off the elevator on level 2 I feel like I had to wait for the timer to run out sinec I couldn’t get back up. Great soundscape and voiceover. Color is A+. Pleasure to play

Thanks for playing! Yes, I wished I had time to implement a crouch – and the adversaries firing which would make it even better. Still have memories of Samus crouching and turning into a ball to explore more spaces.

Thanks! I did the art first – the release after the game jam voting will have a hit-box fix.

The brooding soundscape really makes the environment for me. Ominous. Just like surveillance. I’m a fan of the pixel characters and how each pixel has a but of a border around them.

All the art and music and gameplay work so well together, very cohesive! I love seeing the JRPG (Japanese Role Playing Game) style characters proceduraly generate each time I play.

I imagine this game in an arcade, and winning tickets if I knock down enough tokens and then take those to the desk. If I spend $100 on playing I’ll be able to get an amazing $5 prize that’s 2,000 tickets.
