this was a lot of fun! I did have an issue where if auto respond was off and the player killer attacked me i would never auto lock on to them. So I can't farm them for XP with the bot. IDK if that was intentional though.

I'm kinda buzzing with thoughts about this now. I wish more/games like this existed! and I'm kinda thinking about the logistics of making my own.
Like, I really enjoy resource management games. Those are usually structured around city building and villagers, but you could do like a food forest management game with a focus on sustainable practices and such. Or building off your idea for a game where you're farming for sustenance, a lot of resource management games have a very simple farming aspect, so I don't think it would be a stretch to expand on that.
I think it's a great point that farming sims are very capitalism minded. It's sort of the whole 'art is always political' thing. Like even unintentionally the things we make and have accepted as standard in the genre point to what we consider normal & what goes unchallenged in our thought processes. A lot of these games are very much just resource extraction games. and that betrays a world view, intentionally included or not.
I had a lot of fun playing this, I think the game broke near the end though. Without warning I got a popup that said I had discovered the bunker and let me choose to stay or play endless mode. I chose the bunker, got the achievement, but the game text said something about the mutants evolving and needing to survive, and I was allowed to continue playing. I got the same pop up a few in game days later, and another time after that. Nothing about the game play changed, the enemies still say [pre glow] and I'm almost certain I hadn't finished finding the bunker (the last in game text I had said the bunker signal was weak or something).
I love love loved this, the voice all the world description is written in is so interesting and has such texture to it. This game world is so eerie and paranoid and hostile. I had nightmares after playing this (highest compliments!!!).
I did encounter a bug/typo but theres no way to say it that isn't fully a spoiler. I was heading south, and half the text was describing me heading north and acting like I wouldn't know very early information about the world while i was very late into the game. I expect it's an encounter you can have while heading in both directions and for some reason it got confused which direction I was heading in. I did take a screen shot and can be more specific I just don't wanna spoil anything
It is sad, but it's also sweet. The idea of having someone and being there for each other. Holding hands and smiling at each other at the end. We don't know these characters or how they're connected, but that sort of 'it isn't going to be okay, but I'm here for you' is so moving. Thanks for making this!
You did a fantastic job setting a tone and giving the environment weight and feeling. I'm not sure if this is how it was meant to be read but it very much reminded me of my struggle with brain fog. "returning home" to my brain and body and life only to realize how bad it's gotten, how long I must've been gone, but it was just a blink of an eye to me. With the moss being both the fog and the life things that pile up while I'm "gone". It was beautifully done and I thoroughly enjoyed playing it! Thank you for this experience :3
